rnewman_11
I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to the AR platform. I have not yet built a rifle, but want to at some point. I bought a LR308 Gen 2 Hunter last year and love it. Although I like the rifle, I'm not a fan of the recoil spring twang. With the JPI and Armaspec captured spring systems out there for large frame 308 and AR-15 platforms, the technology certainly exists to fix this issue So, has anyone integrated one of these systems into a DPMS Gen 2 308? If so, what modifications (if any) are needed?
edgecrusher
You’ll need to start measuring parts to figure out what size you need to use to replace. Internal depth of receiver extension, buffer and spring. That will tell you what size to order..
98Z5V
If you go Armaspec SRS, pick the proper weight. I'd go for what should be in it, not comparing what is in it right now (because that's too light).
rnewman_11
I have half of the puzzle. Does someone have one they can measure? I have read that the JPI recoil system is not compatible with the Gen 2 rifles. The assumption is that the rod diameter is too large for the opening in the BCG. Can someone confirm? 98Z5V
Personally, here's my opinion. Don't complicate shiit with complicated shiit. I'd fix your recoil system with stardard, functional parts, and not worry about it. As soon as you start tossing all this fancy shiit in there, you're diagnosing more problems, downstream. For JP - run the whole system, including LMOS BCG, or don't mess with it at all. For the SRS - go read some reviews, man.
survivalshop
The DPMS G2 is not a LR308 , the two are not compatible , that is if we are talking about the smaller frame G2 DPMS Rifle & if you are , there is not much made for that Rifle in the after market world . JP info reads this about the SCS . Not compa?ble with DPMS G2 rifles https://www.jprifles.com/document_pdfs/SCS Selection Guide_758.pdf I also don't see a noise from a properly functioning Buffer system as a problem or issue .
