saber18 Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 I've completed the lower for my 308 build. DPMS lower, Magpul PRS with monopod, Timney 3lb trigger, Panther style grip. For the upper I am thinking about using Fulton Armory side cocking receiver and their 20 bull barrel and FF tube. Has anyone had experience with this type of receiver.
Robocop1051 Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Despite looking really cool, those uppers never really jumped in popularity. My only guess at the reason is that people are afraid of the side bolt when it is cycling back and forth. On a similar note, JP makes a left side charging handle that is independant from the BCG. Kaiser Works used to make a forward mounted, left side charging handle. I REALLY wanted that upper (KR7), but I think the company went the path of the Dodo bird.
imschur Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 I think Americam Spirit also offers one. Being a lefty I wont consider a side charger where the handle reciprocates. I love the idea of the left side non reciprocating chargers.
planeflyer21 Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 I've had a few centerfire rifles where the cocking handle reciprocates with the bolt assembly. If a person is holding their rifle properly, it isn't an issue...left or right handed.Jon
