Faxon has released barrels for a new round they developed with Q.  It is a large frame cartridge based on the 6.5 Creedmore.  They call it the big brother to the 300 BLK.  That would make it the middle brother to the 500 BLK.

It is a LFAR round.  The barrels have a 3 in 1 twist.  The round is meant to be shot suppressed.

Here is a write-up about it.

If you feel like jumping on the bandwagon early, here's a barrel to get you started.

Gotta make your own - load it up.  That's the best way.  Commercial off-the-shelf won't be around for years and years.

It's a 6.5 Creedmoor case with the neck pushed back, loaded with a .338 caliber projectile.  With the equipment, it won't be that bad.  You need to anneal them, before resizing, though.  Here's a great thread on the full process:

Yes, thanks for the link.  I have the brass and dies.  I'm not interested in subsonic, so looking for the Barnes TSX 210 bullets to load per Q data.  Can't seem to find them anywhere.  Even the TTSX 160.  Honestly, most of my time has been on getting the 6.5 Creedmoor working.  I've learned a ton from scouring this site.  Especially from your input.  Poured through the waterboarding data.  Installed the 15.5" gas tube.  Just installed the Armalite kit (AR10REKIT01).  Will be retesting this weekend.  My only concern is the gas port.  Read tons in information on it and thought the current was too small (based on .308 data).  But then I read a thread where you thought it should be around .070 (I believe it was a 20" like mine).  I can get a #48 bit in the current barrel (approx .0750) and not a #47.  So, I'm hoping I will be good.  If not, I'll post the waterboarding results asap.

Hornady makes a good 225gr projectile - that's what I use in my .338 Federal AR.  Those things are always available.  225 SST.  It has a pretty badass G1 BC, at .515.  This one:

It seems to me the Q load data specifies solid copper projectiles for super sonic load data.  I'm thinking they are concerned about the projectile staying together with the extreme 1:3 twist rate?  New territory for me as a handloader.  Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Get a box of those Hornady 225s, and try them out - my thoughts on it.  Weight matters, projo construction matters - but the 225 SST is built pretty tough.  Will it survive a 1:3" twist?  I have no idea.  Load up 5, lower charge, and try them out, and if they suck - I'll buy the rest of the box off you, because I can use them.

Whatever happens, it won't happen inside the barrel.  They might spin fast, but they won't come apart inside the barrel - if that's really the case - until they leave the barrel.  If you shoot a couple, and see a small smoke cloud, then they're coming apart...  in flight...

If it was me, in your situation, I'd risk it.  Completely.  No hesitation.

I like it!  Agreed, it'll be fine inside the barrel.  I'll check it out.  Thanks for the idea.
