FYI, the Magpul polymer rails also fit the Apex. I use their 2" rails to mount my VLTOR Mod-Pod.

I think they are about $5 per rail

Well that beats $24.50 + $14.53 S&H from Apex. I may have to give that a try, how do they hold up considering they are Polymer?

It's still magpul plastic. I haven't had any issues with any of mine. I don't take my parts off enough to abuse the rails.

I have the Apex 12" rail. I installed Magpul MOE polymer 2" rail at the 3 and 9 o'clock. Then I put a Magpul MOE polymer 4" rail at the 6 o'clock.

I have a VLTOR ModPod installed on the side rails and a Magpul VFG1 on the bottom rail.

I did install the Apex full length aluminum top rail. It's strictly a cosmetic thing. I'm not too fond of it.

just out of curiousity, what other handguards do the magpul rail adapters fit?

It'll fit anything with a slot or hole.  The Magpul MOE polymer rails have the appropriate hardware to fit most slots/holes.  I have a 2" on my DPMS slotted free float at 6 o'clock for my bipod.
