Budget Mossberg for home defense

With the pics above showing what I meant by the 7 round tube sticking out farther than the barrel on an 18.5" setup, this would not be feasible on a Maverick 88.

 

Yes, it could be done, with A LOT of work/machining/and such....but just not worth the time/cost for parts.....the shotguns aren't that expensive to start with.

 

The Nordic parts are made for shotguns that use the "normal" barrel lug/ring setup to retain the barrel with the mag tube via a "cap" screwed ONTO the magazine tube. (like I said previously, all the normal makers:  Winchester, Mossberg, Remington, whichever)

 

The Maverick series tubes are sealed at the end with a blind screw hole for the retaining bolt held by the barrel lug via a screw turning INTO the blind hole of the magazine tube.  I wanted to take my 88 apart to show pics of the assemblage, but I am not removing the light mount (it was a bitch).

Okay, I get that part of it now.  But now I have a project...

Unfortunately Remington sealed the verdict on the 870 vs mossberg 500 debate by making crap shotguns. 
 

 

I got my mossberg 500 slugster years ago for about the price of an 88.
