Every time I shoot with the dust cover cover closed I end up with the spent brass case stuck in the action.  I'm running a DPMS bolt and carrier.  No other problems with ejection when dust cover is open.

Any suggestions, on how I can fix this, or what may be causing it?

Thanks,

Kirk

Next time you take it out, get a pic of the jam, what it looks like with the brass, and the chamber.  Post that up when you get it.  That'll help.  <thumbsup>

On an empty chamber, no mag, bolt forward, and ejection port cover closed - by cycling the charging handle back, does the carrier knock the port door open?  It should have to move but an 1/8" or 3/16" or so to open it up.

It may take me a bit to get a photo.

The carrier does knock the port door open when cycling the charging handle on an empty chamber, no mag and bolt forward.  Its closer to the 1/8" of movement before the port cover opens.

If the dust cover is really tight, and requires an unusual amount of force to open, it might be slowing your bolt down just enough to prevent a full extraction. Check the latching part of the dust cover. You may need to work it a bit, so it wears in. A little silicone and/or polishing to the inside of the top of the ejection port can't hurt... if done in moderation. My Mega Ambi Billet was the same at first. After a hundred or so rounds, it loosened up and disappeared.

I agree, and your photo seems to show it. The dust cover plunger should be easy to push in by hand. You can oil, and work it. Should fix it.

Damn!  :o  Check something for me, with a spent case...  Remove the complete BCG, hook the rim of the spent case into the extractor, and use it to push down the ejector until the spent case is seated on the bolt, fully.  Slowly ease up on it, and see what the ejector feels like.  Do that a few time, to get a feel for it.

You're looking for the ejector to stick, or be rough in movement...

You also have a new round moving up in the mag at the same time, and that's normal, but complicating things -  with the previous spent case not getting out of the way...
