aval Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 I guess in some states you can build your own suppressor, but I was wondering if anyone knew if Michigan residents can build one after they get a tax stamp to get one? I would ask the BATF but I've already asked to many question from them and don't need to draw too much attention to myself.

They want you to be legal just as much as you want to be legal. I highly doubt they're adding you to a watch list just because you're trying to do things lawfully.
aval Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 You are probably right Matt.Cross, but I feel better staying out of their sights as much as possible.
Robocop1051 Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Cans require to be registered. The 'oil filter' suppressor still has a registered and serialized adapter. If I'm not mistaken, there was a huge crack down by Feds on home built cans. I don't remember all the details.
Matt.Cross Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 To legally get a Tax Stamp for a self-built can, you have to submit the correct form to the BATFE. Based on your aversion to the BATFE, I'd say you probably don't want to go through the trouble, but I could be wrong.
aval Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 Oh I don't mind talking to them if thats what I must do. I just don't what them thinking I'm a nut case for asking a lot of strange questions.

They are very knowledgeable and they're not going to steer you wrong. The better informed you are, the less likely you'll get yourself in trouble. They will make sure you know what you need to know.
aval Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 You're right, I'll give it a shot. Hell they can't arrest me for something I haven't done yet.
