Pappy1600 Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Just broke down and order a Giraud Case annealing system, 4-6 week wait... debated on this for a few months figured for the amount of reloading I do it should payoff in the long run saving brass.
Tripledeuce Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 It all depends on how many cases your getting with case mouth splits, or If your shooting for tgt, benchrest accuracy. I'v got a case annealer that I'v had that is based on one of the old ones from Frankfort Arsenal( the origional militrty arsenel) haven't used it in 20 years. Mostly, my primer pockets get loose after 15 or 20 loadings, then its time to throw them away. Respectfully Terry
NoFail Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 My primer pockets start to crap out after 3 or 4 uses anyway. If you have a bolt gun then much more worth it.I anneal anyway with a vise, drill, 1/2 deep socket & Coleman bottle with a torch attachement.I'll anneal after two uses and then I'm lucky if I get 5x total. Gas gun beats the crap out it. I could reduce charges but I don't think that would help much <dontknow>
unforgiven Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Dumb question: So you anneal to get more life out of the brass case? <dontknow>
Tripledeuce Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Yep, Mostly the neck and shoulder. They are worked the most by firing and re-sizing. Respectfully Terry
