redneckjunkman
Greetings. I am another newbie from just north of Atlanta that found a NIB RRA Predator in a store and bought it. Only problem is I am a lefty and it is a righty. So I ordered a BADASS from the sponsor on the right. Now I am wondering how hard is it going to be to replace the safety. Will it require a gunsmith? Thanks
EasyEJL
its not too badhttp://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11636/learn/that video shows putting in a non-ambi, here are steps for an ambi, basically the same with adding the other lever1) Make sure your gun is clear. 2) Make sure your gun is clear again. 3) Remove the upper from the lower receiver. 4) With your thumb on the hammer use the trigger to release the hammer into its forward position. 5) Remove the grip from the lower. Be careful to capture the safety lever spring and retaining pin. 6)Once the safety lever is free to move around you should be able to pull it out of the left side of the receiver. Some wiggling may be necessary. 7) Reinsert the new ambi safety from the left side. 8) Reattach the grip with the spring and retaining pin. 9) Do several function checks to make sure the safety does not allow any movement of the trigger when it is in the on position. 10) Attach the right side safety lever. redneckjunkman
Thanks, I will attempt it when the safety gets here tomorrow. Your first 2 steps are right on. <thumbsup>
Robocop1051
The only tool you need is a flat head screw driver, for the pistol grip. The BADASS comes with an Allen key to tighten the levers.
EasyEJL
yeah, since you already have it together, you may be able to get away with just loosening the grip around 1/4 inch, not even taking it off entirely. That will make it easier to avoid losing the spring or pin :)
