hollywood
My bolt recently started not staying locked back on a empty mag and also it won't even stay back manually. Any ideas out there? Thanks.
Tripledeuce
Try cleaning the bolt lock really well. also, run a reamer/drill ( by HAND) through the gas port, just enough to clean the carbon, not to open it up. edgecrusher
I think I had something similar,it was follower in mag.Changed out follower. I'd try this seeing as it happened on an Lar
hollywood
It won't even hold back if I hold the lock in position, release the bolt then release the lock. It will stay unroll I releas the lock. Doesn't look like there is much for it to catch on the bolt.
hollywood
I figured it out awhile ago, just getting to post my findings. I had installed the dpms stock spacer and used there bolt. It turned out to be way to long. Trimmed it down and all is good.
unforgiven
You had DPMS parts in a RR Lar-8???
planeflyer21
I had the same issue. The DPMS stock spacer is needed to install the MagPul PRS and have CH clearance. What stock are you using? Jon
OFP2651
Now that I think about it, mine has done this once or twice now with my PRS stock and the DPMS Stock Spacer as well. Didn't really think about it too hard, because, I just slapped in a new mag and put another round in the chamber, and squeezed the trigger to hit the center of the target again. How much did you have to shave off of the spacer to get it correct? planeflyer21
Not shaving the spacer...trimming the stock retention screw. It is too long, trim off a few threads. I screwed mine all the way in and was able to mark the exposed threads inside the buffer tube (I think I was able to use a longer marker). Cut it off with a Dremel disc and deburr. It now sits flush. OFP2651
I hate to sound as uniformed as this, but does someone have a picture I can relate to what I am looking for? I feel like I know nothing about this rifle right now, but I swear I am fairly educated :-[
planeflyer21
I don't right now but try this: Ensure your rifle has no magazine and that the chamber is unloaded. Separate your upper and lower receivers. After setting the upper to the side, remove your buffer assembly and action spring from the receiver extension on the lower receiver, by depressing the buffer retainer on the bottom center of the receiver extension. Once your buffer assembly and action spring are removed you may shine a light into the front of the receiver extension and you will see the stock (butt plate) screw sticking through the center of the wall at the rear (stock end) of the tube. You can click on the diagram on this page to get a BIGger picture: http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=
OFP2651
Oh the buttplate screw, not a retention screw. Got it now. Oh, also I know a little bit about rifles, like I said; fairly educated, could have just said the screw at the back of the buffer extension tube, lol. planeflyer21
Well I wrote it out, then thought "Put it so anyone coming to 308AR can understand it," wrote it out again, then went and looked at the diagram... Which used different terminology for the parts. RRA :thefinger: . Changed all the terms to match the diagram on the RRA site. And on the PRS the buttstock screw is on the adjustable buttstock, the screw you have to cut holds the stock on the tube. Do you have a little circle on the rear of your buffer from hitting the screw? Jon
OFP2651
Haven't taken it out to look at it. It is in for repair right now, lol. My armorer is taking a look at my CBC ammo extraction issue.
