USMCbassman
so far? So I've been thinking long and hard about this. Truth be told I've contemplated selling my lower and LPK several times. Then I put some serious though and effort where I wanted to take my build. So here are my thoughts on the lower: I think I have a CMMG LPK (I'll have to double check)...roll with it or find another LPK? Geissele SSA or SSA-E (was originally set on SSA-E then read it doesn't have enough "umph" for a .308, can any disspel that?) Heavy Buffers Rifle length buffer/spring/tube Magpul PRS Ergo Grip pistol grip with palm shelf BAD ambi safety UPPER DPMS 308 Upper BCG- suggestions? Krieger Barrel Gas block- suggestions? Handguard- Haven't decided on those either. What am I missing? When the time comes I plan on throwing a Nightforce piece of glass Other suggestions? 98Z5V
Geissele SSA or SSA-E (was originally set on SSA-E then read it doesn't have enough "umph" for a .308, can any disspel that?) Where the hell did you read that at? It's bullchit, no matter where you got it from. The SSA-E is worth a few more bucks than the SSA, just in the reduced trigger pull, overall. It's the difference between a combined pull of 4.5# and 3.5#. The SSA-E is worth it. I have a couple of both those triggers - I'm not just pitching up numbers off a website. <thumbsup> I'd definitely buy another SSA - if the SSA-E wasn't available, ANYWHERE, at the time. I'd never buy the SSA when the SSA-E is available, though. It's worth a couple bucks extra.
USMCbassman
I can't remember where I read it; however, I will do some digging and see if I can't find it. I don't believe everything I read on the interweb, but I couldn't find anything that backed the claim up and then started to find more instances where they being put in 308's with no complaints. Then I became confused.... Thanks 98 as I like the idea of a lighter trigger pull too... Any recommendations on a BCG? I was looking at JP's
EasyEJL
Depending on how long before you intend to actually shoot it, the answer on BCGs is likely "what you can actually find in stock"
USMCbassman
I'm in no real rush...I still have a long way to go on this build.

Zebra644
Try Rainier Arms for the BCG they are usually pretty good about updating their status of availability. I have a spare SSA trigger I am gonna drop in mine. I had on an 5.56 build with about 500 rounds through it. So before spending the money on a SSA-E because Tom is all most always right and it costs me money, I want to try it out first. The gas block, any low profile will work that will allow the use of a free float tube. I am not big into adjustable gas blocks the only reason I have one is because it came stock on mine and it only has two settings. I guess if you want to go free float quad rail or circular tube its up to you plenty of nice looking ones out there.
USMCbassman
Thanks Zebra and everyone else... Nice Road King in your avatar pic! Next step is to order my trigger followed by buffer/spring/tube...this house buying stuff has a put a damper on a lot of things. We close in a couple of days and then it should be down hill from there.

smschulz
Any LPK will do they are all the same - I never use the grip or trigger, and buy the bolt catch separately if not included in the lower.Geissele triggers work fantastically, it is all I use.Mostly SSA-E but a couple HI-Speeds and bought a couple SD-E's at the NRA (at a discount insert smiley face here).Bolts and Carriers are very hard to find now.I have been buying stripped DPMS carriers from Midway and a JP bolt wherever I can find them (way too expensive now but I am hooked), I get gas keys, completion kits wherever.Whatever gas block you get make sure it is adjustable. The rest looks good to me.
