planeflyer21 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Shooting off of the lead thread. Just found these while looking for the published .45 Colt Lil' Gun loads: http://www.handloads.com/articles/default.asp?id=5 Krikey! 350gr at 1204fps?!!? I'd like to get rolling on casting, as I have quite a bit of material to melt.
survivalshop Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 I have made some nice cowboy type loads with my hand cast 228 gr. cast RN & they shoot real nice , but I also hunt with a Black Hawk & load Jacketed bullets for it . I got those cranking out there real nice . I have to look up my Chrono results . I've been meaning to get another mold for a heavier bullet .
planeflyer21 Posted September 13, 2013 Author Report Posted September 13, 2013 I bought some round ball .45 awhile back. Some dudes on MO are loading those up for plinking and pest control. As one dude put it, "I fired the round. Then I made a sandwich for lunch while it was on it's way to the target." Supposed to be like a very quiet, very large BB gun out of a rifle. Supposed to be a couple of good loads like that in .38 also.
NoFail Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 Wow that's awesome. I have a Win 1894 lever gun in 45 Colt. I also have the same gun in.44 Rem Mag. I have H110 & LiL' Gun I use for the .44. I have tried the H110 for .45 Colt and I must say it is something pretty impressive. I have done magnum type loads for .45 Colt. I have confidence in the strength of the rifle and it does just fine. I was using 230 gn wad cutters with results like 1400 fps. It is more accurate than the .44
