Liv2hunt Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 I'm wanting to build my first 308 and am fairly new to the idea of a 308 on an AR platform. I want the gun to be as light as possible and was wondering if anyone made an AR type upper and lower receiver out of carbon composite materials? I like the Bushmaster version, but I think they only make theirs in the .223...any ideas?
EasyEJL Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 I haven't seen carbon fiber, but did see magnesium somewhere. Hmm no, now that I look that was 223 only also.
Robocop1051 Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 MAG tactical says they are planning a 7.62 version of their lightweight magnesium lower receivers. They were planning on releasing a magnesium upper receiver, to match their 5.56 lower, later this year. They say, after they finish the 5.56 line, they'll get started on the 7.62. I recently bought a MAG 5.56 lower for my wife. I know a few guys have them here. They are super light! I'm planning on a sub-5 lbs .22lr for the wife. I hope to have it finished around Christmas time.
shibiwan Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 You could go 300 BLK on the Bushmaster Carbon 15.... -S
