sketch
My fathers gun is up for sale to a new family member just not sure what its worth?$ my research in my area is ^500-300 retail your thoughts? GB has one for 1150$ that's nuts!! But in not looking to loose just even. Is this a common sight for a 1951/52 gun? What's it worth fellas!? planeflyer21
If I'm selling, sure…$1500. If I want it sold, in the condition it appears from your pics, $500-600. Can you take photos against a lighter background? Can't tell if that forearm has been dragged or it is the grain. Also looks like possible well work bluing up top. That full-buckhorn sight is most likely an add-on. My buddy just bought two, to supplement his Dad's and his brother's, and none have a full buckhorn. FWIW, buckhorns are the old dudes' answer to pisspoor stock sights, much like today's ghostrings. This is one of the rifles that should be put back into production! htbde
Here is one at a shop down the street. http://www.fieldtimesportsandguns.com/consignment_detail.html?dros=9914&page=3&page=3 My pops had one. He passed it to me and I passed it to my oldest. Delivered the ammo yesterday. The one above looks to have the old Weaver on it. I think $500-$600 would be a good price for yours. planeflyer21
I should also add, those were all .308s (a right a proper caliber). Around here the .300s don't do well because of ammo inavailability.
sketch
Thanks guys here are better pix. The fore grip has little wear the worst is a few brush scratches in the stalk.
planeflyer21
Yup…I'd say $600-ish. If the purchaser doesn't reload, that .300 Savage is going to be a bear to get ammo for it.
sketch
Thanks Jon yep ammo is a problem I still have half a box from a year ago haven't seen any since ;( I'm keeping my other savage bolt in .300 so I might relode what's left. Tripledeuce
Is the reciever drilled and taped for a scope? And, is the roating mag brass or aluminum? 300 Savage brass is easly made from std 7.62. trim, then fl resize. Respectfully Terry
sketch
No scope tap. Not brass. I made the deal with a navy vet for 400$ with insurance that he sells it back at the same price ! But he's family so I'm happy with the price because as stated before ammo is gone and he fell in love two years ago! He can enjoy shooting after slaving over the net or lgs for ammo or it would have lived a long boring life in the garage. Thanks for the info brothers! planeflyer21
I hope you got insurance that he won't drill & tap it for some Kwik-Site see-thru scope rings.
