98Z5V Posted March 2, 2014 Report Posted March 2, 2014 I'd say run the hat, Larry - nothing at all wrong with that. It's people that will toss on a USMC cap, then hang a Navy Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart on the side of it, or some $hit like that... :bat:
392heminut Posted March 2, 2014 Report Posted March 2, 2014 Get "Proud father" stitched on the back. LOL! It already has 'Okinawa Japan' stitched on the back! You guys are persuasive, I guess I'll start wearing it some. An older gentleman at church this morning walked in about two minutes after we did and told me "Semper Fi!" After the service I asked him if he had seen the USMC sticker on the back window of my truck, which says "Proud Marine Parent" and explained that I was not a Marine, but have a son in Okinawa and what the sticker actually says when you get close enough to read it. He told me "I'm very familiar with Okinawa! Tell your son I said Semper Fi, and Semper Fi to you too!" I thanked him for his service and told him he was invited to Josh's wedding in August. <thumbsup>
gnatshooter Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 My dad was a US Marine. Or 'is' a US Marine, maybe. My dad passed away a few years ago, but some say, Marines don't die, they just regroup. Anyway, I guess I could wear the hat that says 'USMC' and maybe even claim that means I'm rooting for the home team. Or wear it in memory of my dad. I have the hat. I can't wear the hat. I've not been in the armed forces and ferdamsher never hit the beach at Iwo like he did. I can't wear that hat like my dad did, so I don't.
