And even then there is no need to be that tight. If used on a barrel nut you are putting all that torque on the pin and slot in the receiver. Posted March 5, 2014 Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 If used on a barrel nut you are putting all that torque on the pin and slot in the receiver.The the loading of the indexing pin is only dominant till the barrel nut is tight enough to where the friction between the receiver face and barrel extension flange takes over, which is pretty quickly.
