Microgunner
Where do I claim DaeWoo is Chinese owned? I do not. The point is : Buying a Chevy means YOU are building vehicle assembly plants in Asia, NOT America. Need to support Communism or $1.00 an hour wages? Buy Chevy. Simple. South Korea is certainly not communist and the average South Korean auto worker starting wage is $39,100 and experienced workers average $50,350 per year. gnatshooter
A good thing to remember is that the USA has the highest corporate taxes in the world. That means, profits that General Motors makes by making and selling cars in China, do not come back to the USA. If those profits came back to the USA, they would be taxed at approximately 21%. This means, the USA/General Motors is not merely exporting jobs, it is also exporting profits. Shame.
StainTrain
I am more worried about the commies over here than the ones overthere.
98Z5V
As far as Dae Woo goes, they are far more than a car company. They are an industrial giant in South Korea, and they provide a hell of alot to their military in terms of equipment. I've spent a total of six years in Korea - while their cars suck, the $hit they provide their military isn't bad at all. I just hate to see them lumped in with the Chinese - and yes, you did lump them in with the Chinese. That's how Dae Woo entered into this conversation. <dontknow>
shibiwan
Koreans aren't bad at all. Unlike the Chinese, they respect intellectual property rights and don't make counterfeits. BTW, Daewoo (and Hyundai) also manufacture CNC machines. They are pretty decent and almost on par with the Japanese CNC machinery.

That's how Dae Woo entered into this conversation. <dontknow> No, I did not. I lumped Dae Woo FACTORIES in with the other foreign built cars that General Communist Motors is IMPORTING to the United States, as result of GM having bought 3 Dae Woo factories. It is a big lie by the "Merchants of Doubt" that General Communist Motors assembly plants in China, Korea, and Indonesia are ONLY for their foreign sales. And THAT is by design, to twist perception as Commie Motors knows that when enough Americans find out what is truly going on they'll buy vehicles produced here in 'merica. Somebody else has taken license to muddy these waters about Chinese vs. Koreans, not me, and I'll just reiterate my opinion: if you want to buy full priced vehicles produced in slave labor economy, so Gen. Communist Motors can build MORE factories in Communist China, you have that information to do so.
