srtwnab
Anybody use the Detroit gun works uppers? Sorry if I missed a thread somewhere. Staying my .308 build was wondering about quality
edgecrusher
If quality is a concern, you may want to stick with a known quantity, in other words a well known reputable manufacturer. I haven't heard of anyone using these guys, not that it means they are junk, but know that if you take the chance, you can't be mad at anyone but yourself if it doesn't work out. srtwnab
Yea I just saw where brownells had them in Stock. May just stick with the dpms upper. Im kinda thrown off on my barrel got a good deal on it from a shop I just happened to go in yesterday. didn't research it first and just snagged it up. Red x 20" stainless. now that I've bought it I'm concerned from a few reviews. But I guys I'll see how it shoots lol
edgecrusher
I just looked at their site , two things that concern me: They sell DPMS based monolithic lowers.... Wtf? And they don't sell to the public only high volume oem's, distributors, and retail outlets( direct quote) ^^ my issue is if you have problems, it doesn't sound like you are going to get any help, cause you just aren't big enough to matter. srtwnab
Thanks for pointing that out I didn't even think about that when I read it. Well unless someone chimes in you've made up my mind. Anybody know of any decent priced receivers in Stock worth buying right now?

Their products are historically hit or miss. Best bet is to research every part you buy because this isn't like an ar15, not everything is going to work together in harmony and lots of products have been put out with promises and just fail, epically. We are here too, run it by us. There is a great knowledge base here. If you can find a tactical machining upper (I believe it's called a tm10, several people have used them with their DPMS rifles with great results)
edgecrusher
Oh yeah, be careful of sudden screaming deals..... There's a reason no one bought it and they are trying to off load it cheap. Sorry, had to throw that out there.
srtwnab
Yea I understand man. I've been doing a lot of reading here and the only thing I hadn't looked at was specific barrels. I figured what the hell I'll try it. See what happens. If it blows I'll get rid of it for a rainier.
blue109
would a cav arms lower be considered monolithic since it has the stock built in? lol.
edgecrusher
Lol, I don't know. I can't believe that's how they described their stripped lower.
Grendel
I have a lower and upper from DGW. Both are well made and a higher quality than the DPMS I've had in the past. The last DPMS upper I received from Brownells had smashed threads from the brotching process on the alingment notch. DGW seemed to have a better QA from what I've seen.........so far. edgecrusher
Cool, thanks for the info! How about some pics and a build sheet? I may have missed it as I was gone for 6 months but I'd like to see your receivers
texas30cal
"If you can find a tactical machining upper" is the key statement here Edge, I am beginning to think they are like unicorns. In fact today I was told that they have a batch at the anodizer now and are waiting to get them back for testing bc this is the first batch, which I know is incorrect bc I remember seeing one or two for sale that I missed. Anyway their lowers are top notch and I am sure their uppers are too (that's why I've been waiting for about a year), does anyone know of one for sale?
