  1. Yep a crack in the wall of unconstitutional laws the PRNY has on the books.
  2. The more that comes out about this shooting the more it stinks of corruption. It looks like these kids were sacrificed to push an agenda.
  3. I am glad it wasn't just me thinking that.
  4. Yeah when it comes to the two patterns it is wise to stay on one side of the fence or the other. I could not believe the advice I was reading.
  5. Thanks, I didn't think I was going bonkers. AR 15 buffers and springs should never be thrown in AR308s without an Armalite Carbine Buffer tube.
  6. Well I loaded 300 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor this week. I was home sick with the flu so yesterday I felt good enough to stand next to the load bench and just knocked it out. I have an LRB M25 a couple of bolt guns and a couple of AR308s in 6.5 Creedmoor. Luckily all the gas guns like one load. Too bad my bolt guns like a different one from each other and the gas guns.
  7. http://www.prepperforums.net/forum/rifles-sks-ar-ak-long-guns/100169-ar10-problems.html I was browsing the prepperforum when I ran across this thread. It sounds like the guy has an undergassed problem but some of the advice he was given was interesting. The guy has a bear creek 243 upper on a DPMS lower. I found this particularly interesting: Swap out your AR15 spring and buffer to see if that solves your problem. So I posted pictures of the differences in the AR 308 vs AR15 platform buffer parts. I just couldn't sit back and wait for the next post that said "my bolt won't lock back and it kicks like a mule now." If I recall correctly The Armalite carbine buffer tube is longer than the standard carbine buffer tube so you might be able to get away with the AR15 carbine buffer length but I am not certain about that.
  8. If you are reloading just to be able to plink more then you are correct it is not worth your time and money to reload those two calibers. If you are reloading to get the most accuracy out of your gun then it is worth your time and money. The benefit to reloading is tuning a load for a particular rifle and controlling your own ammo crisis resiliency.
  9. I have one from their first batch of 50 and a couple from their 3rd batch of 50. They are very nicely done and all work and fit flawlessly.
  10. Go ballistic firearms, Lewis tool and machine are the two I have used besides DPMS.
  11. https://goballisticfirearms.com/accessories.php Go ballistic lowers are pretty nice, I have done three builds on them. here is a chance to buy a barrel and get a free 308 lower.
  12. Interesting question, I suppose the right answer is the one that is in your hand at the time you need it. I am am partial to the 45 ACP, 41 Mag and the 38 super. I normally carry the 45 but, have been known to carry a 40, 9mm, 357 and 38 super as well.
  13. Sorry that would be 6 inches low at 200 for 1/4" click scope adjustments.
  14. I have quite a few 300 BLK rifles, one is set up for home defense with a red dot and the other three are se up for range duty. I do not hunt so all my reloads are with the Hornady 110 V or Z max bullets on top of IMR 4227. My HD rounds are the 115 Grain Barnes TAC-X loads (factory). I shoot targets at 100 and 200 yard with my hand loads from the AR and the Ruger Ranch in 300 BLK they are accurate enough to be fun but will not win me any matches. With a 100 Yard zero I am 3 inches low at 200 (12 Clicks on my Nikon 3x9s). The Barnes load is zeroed for 100 yards and is 3.5 inches low at 15 yards which I feel is pretty reasonable for an HD set up a Center Mass shot is still going to be in the ball part of the vitals. I have a friend in his late 70s that can no longer handle the recoil of full power rifle loads so I let him use my Ruger Ranch rifle to shoot. He told me with that little rifle and round he actually looks forward to shooting again.
  15. well at least it was posted on a reliable source and it isn't fake news. And my memory isn't really that bad.
  16. Supposedly it makes the SS barrel live longer before it starts to lose its accuracy. how many rounds longer? I don't know. I read an article that had to do with break in and cleaning (I cannot remember where but it was within the last month). The Author and his shooting partner had to do trials on a new cartridge so they decided to do a trial to see the difference between a barrel which was broken in and cleaned regularly vs one that is just shot and put away. Both used the same manufacturers nitrated barrels in the same length and chambering. The non cleaned barreled gun started to have problems after 700 rounds. They brought both guns in and bore scoped them. The cleaned barrel looked like new and the uncleansed barrel showed corrosion pitting in the chamber area which was causing the casing to be hard to extract. The author was surprised the nitrate did not prevent the corrosion pitting. After discussions with the nitrating company he discovered the nitrating process only slows corrosion down it does not eliminate it. So I suppose a nitrated SS Barrel will have very good corrosion resistance as well as longer life due to the additional hardening.
  17. I Hear ya, my M1 Garand and LRB M25 are nicknamed Combat pay 1 and 2 because, that was the only way I could afford them. Lmao
  18. Robocop take a look at the JAE 100 G3 stock it is pretty awesome, I had an LRB M25 built for me in one of them. The thing cost me 4K back in 2014 it was a coming home gift to myself. The PRNY is almost as bad as CA when it comes to Semi auto rifles. I have the thing out to Jay Wolfe right now getting rebarreled with a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Hopefully I will have it back in about 6 weeks.
  19. I received a few lottery tickets, I got back 10 bucks of the 20 my wife spent on them. My wife got a pair of Uggs and a pair of slippers. My my boy got a Roybi 18 volt tool set and some jeans. Other than that we all got fatter with a great meal. This is year has been a difficult year for my family, my wife's baby brother died in June from an Anyerism (sp?). He was 43 and otherwise in great health. He always came over to our house for the holidays and ate with us. He would arrive early enough to mash the potatoes and make conversation. We set a place for him at the table for Christmas (and Thanksgiving). He is dearly missed Christmas was a little easier than Thanksgiving was and we are ready for 2017 to be over. Sorry I don't mean to bring anyone down. On on the bright side, my Odin works 6.5 Creedmoor barrel came in the 23rd and I was able to put it together and sight it in on Christmas Eve.
  20. My club has a military rifle league every summer. There are 2 Garands, (one is mine), a few M1 Carbines, a few 03s and a bunch of ARs.
  21. In 2012 I was at Ft. Rucker, Alabama for training and was looking for places to shoot. There is a gun store in Daleville called Ordnance Depot. They have a 25 yard range in the store and you could rent any handgun you wanted to try off their wall to shoot there. They had all kinds of things in the store including DPMS 308 complete lowers and an AR57 upper. It was the first time I saw either of them. I started reading up on the AR 308 and AR57, I read everything I could find on them. I decided I should buy both and that was pretty much the end of it all. I spent a lot of time and money there. Probably more than I should have but, that is another story. My first AR 308 lower was mated with a DPMS 18” SASS upper which I got at midway for 1500 bucks. I built a 2nd DPMS AR 308 with a 16 inch upper and gave it to my son. I have gone on to build several more AR 308s all with 20 inch or longer barrels. My daughter claimed the AR57 which is a sweet gun to shoot and a lot of fun to boot.
  22. I just ordered a 6.5 creedmoor barrel, 15 inch handguard and ejection port door assembly. Figure it will be here after Christmas Day.
  23. Well I am no expert (nobody pays me to shoot) but, I too experience a different point of impact on the target from the first round down the tube no matter if my barrel is clean or fouled (as in I failed to clean it from the last outing). Most of my bolt actions are .5 inches in difference. Two of them I have shot enough that they are predictable and I can Kentucky Windage for the impact shift.
  24. Don't feel too bad the PRNY is just as bad.
  25. Thanks, I do like the 308 more than the 223 in the AR platform. It just feels better in the hands. I do plan on playing with the .224 Valkyrie and 6.5 Creedmoor in the future. Currently I run the 300 BLK, .223 Wylde and 308 WIN in Semi auto AR platforms. In bolt action AR platforms I am running the .223 Wylde and .17 Remington.
