  1. I recently ordered an EBR from Brownell for my DPMS LR 308. It came in about 5 days. I was surprised to see the mail truck roll up into my driveway on a Sun. afternoon. At first glance at my rifle I thought I was seeing a pin that was permanent because I could only get at it the way it went in. Upon a closer look I discovered that it was an allen wrench type screw that came out very easy. The removal of the original bolt stop and installation of the EBR couldn't have been any easier and it works great. It was far easier then installing the foot pegs to their mounting brackets on my Harley. If you've ever had to do that, you would know what I mean.
  2. Welcome from Central Texas and good luck with the build brother Magwa! <thumbsup>
  3. A DPMS LR 308 a 22" barrel. I have a DPMS LR 308B with an 18" barrel that is good for up to 800 yards for great accuracy. I added a Magpull PRS stock, palm rest grip, hydraulic buffer, Harris bipod and a B&T industries monopod. The scope is Accushot but I would recommend a good Redfield. They make great scopes for a reasonable amount. I will be adding a Geissele DMR 2 stage trigger next. DPMS makes a NATO REPR that just might be what you’re looking for or do what I did and got one that was basic and customized it as I went. I hope this helped. ;D
  4. In case y'all haven't seen it yet, here is a video that will make you think. <munch>
  5. If nothing else, get with your friends and family and put a solid pre-plan and reaction plan together just in case things get serious.

  7. I have one of these on my DPMS LR 308 attached to my Magpul PRS and it was very instrumental in zeroing my rifle. It’s well worth the money. <thumbsup>
  8. If you like ARs and want to hunt deer, then I would recommend looking at the LR 308s on the DPMS website. I have one and really love it. <thumbsup>
  9. I pick up Federal 308 ammo at Wal-Mart for less then $16 a box.
  10. Thought so. As I understand it, it's the Colts that have the bigger pins. Thanks for the reply. ;)
  11. Can anyone tell me what the trigger and hammer pin size is for a DPMS LR 308B? It's either a 0.154 or a 0.169 but not sure which. <munch>
  12. I never thought that inquiring about something that I heard on a TV show would stir up so much response. Thanks for all the great input and replies everyone.

  16. I’m U.S. Army retired and did small arms repair my whole career with the exception of the five years when I was an instructor at the small arms repair course. Over the course of my military career I’ve seen several weapons come and go. Some I felt should have been kept in the system and some that should have never been invented. I’ve fired most of them as well as a few of the German weapons. Of all the weapons that I’ve shot, there is one that really stood out for me and that was the German H&K G3 rifle. It is 7.62 and has a better range of accuracy than our M16s. Ever since then I’ve always wanted shoot long range with a rife of that caliber. This was back in the late 80s when I shot this rifle. As we all know, in the last few years, the AR style rifles have become really popular and they have also become the men’s Barbie because of all the accessories that can be added to them. So where am I going with all of this you wonder. Well, if you think about it, the AR style rifle has been the type of rifle that I’ve shot for the better part of the last 26 years of my life. I have always wanted to do some long range shooting and the 7.62 can do the job. With that said I bought a DPMS 308B and have add several modifications and still adding. I changed the A2 stock out with a Magpul PRS. To that I added a monopod and added a hydraulic buffer. I added iron sights, a riser and a good scope, a bipod, a palm rest pistol grip and will be adding a good two stage trigger. As it is now, I can put three rounds in a quarter at 100 yards. It has an 18” barrel so I don’t expect a great deal of accuracy a 1,000 yards but when I get that accuracy at 800 yards, I’ll be happy until I get a second upper receiver with a 22” barrel. The one thing that I’ve noticed the most when shooting this rifle it that it fits like a glove when it is shouldered and griped while firing. Too bad my M16 never felt like that. Anyway, that is my story on why I chose the DPMS 308.
  17. Zombies or not, the whole thing helps me justify to the wife on what I spend on guns and supplies.
  18. My Magpul PRS stock arrived, my B&T monopod arrived, now I'm waiting for my Enidine hydraulic buffer. Latter I will order my Geissele high speed trigger.
  19. Ok. How did we go from bending, I mean bedding the action to cnating?
  20. I'm from central Texas. In the Ft Hood area.
  21. I'll try the loc-tight, and the buffer. Thanks for the reply. <thumbsup>
  22. U.S. Army reitred. 6yrs NG and 20 yrs active. Small arms repair and a small arms repair, towed artillery repair, and tank turret repair instructor. Now a small arms instructor and trainer at Ft Hood, TX
  23. Yep! I re-watched it. It was bedding. I have a DPMS 308 and it has a nice tight fit on the receivers. Some times I get a little play on the scope riser which is why I'm looking to get a hydraulic buffer. The shock from firing tends to loosen it. I can put three rounds in a quarter at 100 yards. I hope to find a range close by where I can try 200 and 300 yards. Thanks for to replies y’all. Yes I’m from Texas.
  24. It could have been. I will have to watch that part of this week’s episode again. Thanks for the reply.
  25. I was watching American Firearms recently and they mentioned "bending the action" and said that it makes the weapon more accurate and prolongs the life of the weapon. Can anyone explain what "bending the action" is? ???
