  1. God no, I could almost fit my whole 308 in that 300 magizine....... <lmao> Jgun, you are right. I would like to know if the company would be around in 5,10,20 years. Yes, I did not knowthe price of the rifle before my last post and I 100% agree I woud be better off buying the whole rifle then trying to do a build. Did yall see the 338 round next to the 308 round and 556 round. That 338 is a monster for sure.
  2. http://www.onlylongrange.com/specs.asp I woud like to see some paper work to compare the two beast( 300 win mag and 338)
  3. Dang good deal. 145gr Lake City Brass from cmmg for 17.95 per 20 rd box. I just ordered 2 boxes and I hope to update with good news on my rifle cycling with a spec spring.
  4. R&D is already done. Proven in the video. As far as replacement parts go, if one was built it would be a situation that a te least 2 of everything is bought. I would also like to know the largest caliber that is buildable from mass produced parts of the shelf.
  5. It is big, but big+gun= bad ass
  6. I dont want to buy a whole rifle, I want to build one. I use to have a boltgun but sold it. I was sitting and thinking, I have a lot of 300 win mag ammo and no rifle to shoot it from. So I figured the ammo would be something to build from......lol <thumbsup>
  7. Where could a person get a marked lower for an AR .300 win mag. I dont want a bolt gun and I know the AR stuff is out there. The question is where is it? <dontknow> I have found a bit of info on building a 300 wsm, but I really want the big power the 300 mag provides.
  8. Thanks for the input 98, but why? This is something I just cant grasp the concept of. Can you or someone help me understand why Rifle Lenght would be better then carbine or mid lenght. Is it because the gas tube is longer and can provide more energy to the gas key to drive the BCG back? Or what?
  9. OK, here is a good one I think. I know the different gas system lenghts in the barrels. I know they come in different variations with different barrel lengths. I primarily want to talk 16 inch and 18 inch barrels. Is there an ideal gas system lenght for these 2 lenghts? Which one would it be? I would imagine this ideal system would be very efficiant and have the ability to run the fire arm with no issue when firing any decent loads. The reason for this thought is the ER Shaw barrel I am wanting to put on my DPMS. I plan to call them tomarrow and just have a chat. There motto is whatever you want in a barrel they can do. I want a barrel that will run any ammo or about any ammo with no issues.
  10. I only have one question. Where can a person buy a ER Shaw Barrel for a DPMS platform? After carfully thinkng for some time now this is the brand of barrel I want to use. I am ready to get back on my 308 build and need this info and any input you may have.
  11. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=187667 Should be in stock as soon as the end of the week and no later then the end of next week <thumbsup>
  12. Yes this is a new build and as of now the round count is at 40. I lubed it up with a quart of yama lube( not the whole quart of course. The gas block is fine it was fit by CMMG with the barrel. The spring/buffer is AR 15 not 308. I am going to call Monday and get my order in with AAC for some 125 gr match ammo and order a new spring. I am really wanting to know if my rifle with the modded spring can fire the supersonic ammo with no issues. If it can is the shortened spring going to cause any damage in the long run?
  13. I looked at those , but I dont know if this flate wire spring will fix my problem. What does everyone think about this?
  14. Ok, guys I got it cycling great and the BCG is locking back. I figured if I break it I can fix it. So what I done was I pulled the spring and buffer I removed 1 weight from the buffer , but later added it back. I started cutting spring coils 1 by 1 untill I got to number 12 on number 12 is when the BCG stripped and loaded another round, but the BCG did not go forward completely ( this is when I put the weigh back in the buffer ). I loaded 3 rds. and my rifle functioned perfictly. Now I have a question. I am shooting the 220gr. right now with the shorter spring now installed what is going to happen when I shoot the 123 or the new 125 gr match ammo? I looked for a less stiff spring , but had no luck finding one. If anyone knows where to find one let me know or post a link for future referance.
  15. I like the suppresor idea for sure. Maybe somewhere in the future when I get a job that can come into play. For now I am going to go back and check the gas block to makesure it is alined just right and and fire a few more rounds. I can say this, when I manually lock the bolt back I can tell the spring is very stiff. Much more stiff then my factory built RRA 556. Hey there is a spring and buffer for me to try out. <thumbsup>I will get it figured out , I hope anyways. If all fails then I may be puting in an order with AAC for the new 125 grain match ammo, or the new hunting ammo they are fixin to start taking orders for. Heck Cor-bon has ammo also. Well the lss stiff spring did not do anything for it and the gas block is right on form what I can tell. I may just have to hold out and get some different ammo to try. This is my first complete build, so I will just have to trouble shoot and learn.
  16. OK, I can manually pull the BCG back and it locks with no issues. I am using I assume a standard carbine spring and buffer that comes wih the Magpul kits from Pk firearms. I am using the 220 subsonic ammo and yes it is short stroking for sure. The BCG is coming back just enough to eject the brass but not load a new round.
  17. What lloks fun are the full auto 458s <thumbsup>The lord knows I would like to get me one of these.
  18. OK, 2 day shipping on my ammo. I was extreamly excited when I got hom and it was on the front porch. So I loaded 3 rounds asap I am not cycleing. I know my BCG is not coming back enough. I fired the first and it ejected about 4 o clock and did not cycle. Fired the second same thing. Then I fired the 3rd and the bolt slammed aginst the empty case before it was ejected and no bolt lock on the last round. Do I need a different spring? What are you useing? Or am I going the wrong direction?
  19. Yeah I know the max limitations but at 450 yrds the 308 is there. I have been thinking about a 458 also , but the ammo is just not pricd right IMO, so now I am looking more toward the 50 beowulf. I have thought about a 6.8 specII but I really think 556 has plenty of kill and range to build a 6.8
  20. The only Foliage Green on it is a few xtm panels. The rest ( i.e. stock, afg , and the grip is FDE. I will get better pictures to go along with these.
  21. I want a 450yrd rifle thats why I am building my 308
  22. Just got off the phone with AAC they are right now taking orders and shipping 125gr serria match grade ammo In 2 months they will be shipping hunting ammo which is some kind of bonded bullets by remington And by the years end will be selling pliking ammo also by remington And they do have the 220 gr reminton in stock ready to ship
  23. I do agree that the wheels or mechanical driven stones will burn and weeken a blade, they will also take to much metal off the edge. I also use a simple wet dimond stone then run the blade over a smoothing stone to remove any ruff edges. Doing this closes up the blade and the edge lasts much longer. As far as the Kitchen knives I use the sharpener made into the can opener.
  24. The price is deffinatly right on the lowers. Thanks Matt Also what is going to be the best way to clean up the Break?
