I had one on my .223. It does not add that much weight over a standard Flash hider to be noticed. I took mine off, as I sometimes pull up and shoot a coyote without hearing protection. You do not want to shoot it without hearing protection, as it is very, very loud. Now, I know some of you might be thinking that hearing protection should always be worn and I agree, as I have hearing loss from some loud noises I heard in IRAQ. But, when you are out driving, and a Wiley Coyote jumps out, you don't have time to plug your ears. Also, the back blast hits the shooter pretty good. As far as recoil reduction, It works very well.
