Well if it makes you feel better my DPMS LR-308 will eat just about ANY ammo.. Brown Bear to Hornady Steel Casings to Wolf To Tula, German DAG/MEN, and then Hornady Amax to Federal OTM.. and the groups are pretty tight.. IMHO..

Sold my DPMS 5.56 upper today.. ordering either a BCM upper or PSA upper to replace it.. still not sure which way to go.. :o

Got a U.S. FLC Molle II vest for $6 on EB.. then bought a triple AR mag pouch (holds 6), double 308 mag pouch (holds 4), dbl 9mm pouch, SAW pouch, and a Frag Grenade Pouch.. gearing up for the end.. Lol.. ** some of the gear came in today.. :)

So I got in my 400 rounds of PMC XTAC 55gr FMJ and my 280 rounds PMC Bronze .223 55gr FMJ.. and I went to the range yesterday & today.. <thumbsup> shot 235 rounds of ammo.. (110 today in 40 mins).. goups at 100 yards with the 3" MOA Red Dot were at about 4" or so.. just plowing away.. the MBUS 'irons' at 100 yards were decent also.. then at 200 yards with MBUS 'irons', I got about 8" x 11" then @ 200 yards w/3 MOA Red Dot (which covers 6" @ 200 yards).. I got this like 6" group.. overall MUCH better with BRASS ammo.. PS.. I did dial down and adjust the red dot & MBUS now for 200 yard ZERO .. 8) Al

the factory FF tube and barrel nut goes.. :( Troy and most others include a DPMS compatible barrel nut with theres.. you just have to CHECK the specs on the proposed tube.. The Troy 13.8 MRF is pretty popular.. and now YHM and some others are getting in the DPMS 308 game.. read the notes on the UPPER height changes to make sure your upper RAIL will match the proposed Quad/Rail BUY.. I was going to do a RAIL.. but decided to stay factory VENTED aluminum FF tube instead.. and avoid the $$$ expense.. here she is all painted Desert Camo with Desert Camo 550 cord on the FF tube..

Read some AR15's do and some don't like steel cased ammo.. I thru caution to the wind and ordered 500 rounds of Wolf MC 223 FMJ ammo.. for the new DPMS 5.56 I ordered.. after running a good 80 rounds of Federal AE 223 55gr FMJ with ZERO issues.. I tried the Wolf MC... HORRIBLE.. FTE's.. last one got STUCK in CHAMBER and I had to use a cleaning rod to get it out.. when I got it home.. now when your sighting in a new red-dot/scope and something like this happens.. it tends to pis* on your parade.. <dontknow> anyway.. that was yesterday.. I have sold the remaining Wolf already and recovered $92 for that.. I then ordered some (400 rounds) more BRASS ammo.. $6.19/box.. PMC Xtac 193 55gr FMJ ammo.. here is today's results.. at 100 yards and 3 MOA red dot.. group measured 3 1/4" with 10 shots.. and some CLAY bustin.. all seems GTG now.. <thumbsup> as a side note it was suggested to TRY some Silver Bear maybe after say 300 rounds down the pipe to maybe loosen the cahmber up abit and get rifle to break-in some.. Figured I do the DPMS 'Group Photo' Super KISS picture.. (via cell phone) no worries.. got a Nikon 4-12x40 with Mil-Dot and Bushnell Trophy T Red Dot standing by...

Went another route.. grabbed the Bushnell 73-0132P Red Dot (looks like Acog).. for $137 shipped.. and Miculek Brake for $37 from CTD.. Cabelas has Federal AE 223 on sale for $5.99 box so I grabbed 8 of them.. Total will rifle and all parts and ammo.. with shipping also.. $1079.. bank account below $800.. now crying.. :(

So I went out with my newly Desert Camo painted DPMS 308 with 16" and 4-12x40 Nikon with BDC.. at 100 yards I was picking off CLAYS and shooting 3" AR500 steel. <thumbsup> Also shot 200 yards.. (the HEAD is 5" wide on this target (reduced QIT)) Nothing fancy.. all with cheap Brown Bear 145gr FMJ.. I imagine with the better ammo I'd be a little tighter.. Also picked off the same 3" Steel and 4" Clays with relative ease.. Al
