  1. I must be the only one who doesn't drink the Colt kool-aid... <dontknow>
  2. Here it is lifted from ARFCOM: Well here it is from CalGuns. Hope I am not out of line passing this along. July 17, 2012 To our Valued Customer: Announcement regarding Mega Arms Monolithic MTS upper receivers: We have both good news and also tough news to deliver. So to quickly get the bad news out of the way: we are no longer manufacturing, or offering for sale, our MTS Monolithic upper receivers. This includes sets involving the MTS upper in AR-15 and MATEN. If you are a custom MTS client, please contact us. You must be wondering why we are taking this step. No, we did not have any safety or quality issues. You already know that our MTS upper is made to our high expectations and has been the pinnacle of the industry since its inception. We recently became aware that a competitor is about to obtain a patent, and we believe that this competitor will assert its patent against us. We have strong defenses, but we are not a large company that can sustain ongoing litigation expenses. Plus we would rather be working on providing a superior replacement. The good news is that we are working on a new platform that far exceeds anything currently offered in the industry. It will be exactly what you would expect from Mega Arms. We have no specific time frame on when we will be able to start shipping the new platform, but stay tuned for news on that front. The MTS upper for AR-15 and MATEN has been a huge success for us at Mega Arms, and we are just as disappointed as you are with this decision and change. We convey our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to you or your customers. We at Mega Arms look forward to our new platform, and believe that it will be a platform that the industry would expect to see from us at Mega Arms! Sincerely, Mega Arms
  3. To be honest, I went with the 20" and have read nothing but RAVE reviews from other owners of the same barrel so the 18" should be no exception. I would JUMP on one as quickly as I could if I was you- they WON'T be in stock long! Good luck!
  4. As an FYI, Mega has ceased production of the mono uppers due to a perceived possible patent infringement so looks like those who already have them are the lucky ones!
  5. Would you recommend the S3G for a dedicated hunting rifle? I'm just waiting for my muzzle brake to be installed by Allstar Tactical on my Mega Arms MA-TEN build and then once I get it back, it'll be ready to shoot. I put an extra AR15 trigger that I had laying around in it just to finish it but I know that it's not going to be in there too long. I have a Timney 3lb. skeletonized model in my Ar15 and was toying with the idea of putting that in the 308 because the main focus of the 308 is hunting and target shooting and I like smooth triggers in my hunting rifles. (I had a Remington Model 700 S/F in 300 Win. Mag that had a trigger that SPOILED me forever on other triggers! LOL!) I know that I want a lighter pull, say in the 2#-3# range and I'm used to single stage triggers. I did have an RRA LAR-8 Varmint that had the NM two stage triiger, but I never got used to the take up and then fire routine. So do you think the Geissele S3G is a good match for my needs?
  6. Umm, I just checked the website and it still says "returning soon."
  7. I also live in NY and you CAN have a vertical foregrip and you can have mags that hold more than 10 rounds as long as they are preban. Preban Knight SR-25 mags will work in your rifle.. but they'll run you over $100 each IF you can find them!
  8. What's your opinion on the BABC? I have a BattleComp on my AR15 and I'm currently building a .308 as $$ allows and I'm stuck between the BABC and the SJC Titan. I"ve heard some RAVE reviews on the Titan and since it's $100 less, I may go that route. Although, I DO love the BattleComp on my AR15, but if it doesn't perform better I can't justify the extra cost. The difference is almost the cost of the A1 stock kit I want to get.
  9. A couple of weeks ago I noticed Rainier Arms had them in stock on a Monday I believe. I ordered mine and by Friday, they were sold out! Same thing happened with Rainier Arms' 20" Ultra Match barrels. I was on the list to be notified when they were available again, got my notification, ordered the barrel and a week later they were sold out agin! Seems QUALITY 308 parts are flying off the shelves. I'm thinking of going the Fulton Armory chromed carrier route to go with my JP Enhanced bolt. Or I may call YM and wait the two weeks for theirs...
  10. Why?
  11. Here's a youtube l;ink with a video that explains all:
