A little wobble is normal, that repr pictured cost a small fortune and yes it wobbles a little but doesn't bother me. Here's some reference pictures, LWRC 308 is pretty tight but I was able to get a business card in there,the JD Machine AR15 had a slightly larger gap.

As mentioned above my vote would be for the 30-06 only because of the huge range of bullet weights available. I do not own an 06, I do own a 270 bolt gun.

Are you referring to target or deer at that range? 600 yards would be about the max effective range on deer for the .308 , the Grendel about 400 yards using the 1000 ft.lbs. of energy rule.

If this is strictly a bench gun weight is a good thing so why not go with a 20-22" barrel if you're concerned with milking every fps that you can get out of it? Although with length you get more barrel whip so a heaver contour would be better. <dontknow>

Welcome from LA. ^^^ I would recommend that you heed the subtle warning signs from above & back away from the PA-10, there's too many issues popping up with it. The new Aero Precision has been a winner.
