  1. They are all good in their own way I own DPMS simply because of cost and the fact they take P-mags I love my gun.... a budget must be established and barrel length etc what are you trying to achieve? Welcome from the Free state of Idaho...
  2. I am up for this but only if you guys discuss the topic I am pretty lax on taking pictures and stuff but we can get it done so you guys let me know what you would like to talk about for say a week and we can do it ,I took the Idaho wolf trappinmg class last yuear and I have not bought alot of supplies saving for a snow sled so I can go trapping well the snow sled will be here this next weekend and i have enough stuff around here tpo throw some stuff together for pics.. so let me know what you want to discuss and if i know anything about it i will be more than happy to share what little I know with you...
  3. I love Marpat, and I still prefer pure fleese over anything else I have used in the last 30 years it is light , warm and easy to layer and it only holds 1% of it's weight in moisture.... where good Polypropalene underware or body armour and you are good to go....
  4. Snares are the bomb ..you can catch anything in a snare and they can be made from a ton of stuff used fencing, cordage, paracord etc my favorites are wire snares fine wire for small critters and cable for big ones , I also use diverters which are a big peice of copper wire that will divert the snare for the path of say a elk or moose when you are targeting wolves or coyotes.... also if you are snaring small game you want a breakaway link in your snare so large animals that might get in to your snare can break the cable. a simple piece of 1/8th to 1/4 steel shaped in a L with holes in each end will work as a lock for cable snares . A small bent over tree I mean small will set the snare on a rabbit or squirrel enough to dispatch them .... snares can catch anything.....
  5. I like her and her message and I am passing this on to many more folks.....
  6. Well in theory that is true but it is also true that a 1 sided wound bleeds only 1/2 of a 2 sided wound or not at all depending on entry angle. example you shoot from a tree stand and the bullet goes in thru a lung and lodges in the briskett, no blood trail... now for a guy who is really woods savy no problem but you would not believe how many deer and elk are lost each year because of no blood trail. Now the same situation with a Barnes or any well constructed bullet it goes all the way through and it is like a faucet. Remember a hole is a hole if that hole is placed in the correct place it does not matter what you use for a bullet....
  7. My pal, metto barrel loves it all it is a midlenght system no problems at all...
  8. I am jonsing to get my A3 Hbar sighted in going to do some serious wolf hunting this month pelts should be prime and we have plenty of snow , got the snow sled ready just nead some decent weather....
  9. The finest grain smoothest flat rock you can find , in different parts of the country the rocks are all different but a river will have rocks it has worn down through time... but it must be fine grain not to rough, also you might be able to get back your edge by useing your leather belt as a strapand strap it like a straight razor. I carry a ceramic stick for touching up my knife but I have used river rocks many times....
  10. 21. That is what I love about Idaho it has the largest wildnerness in the lower 48 and the fewest people and the fewest jobs so nothing to attract idiots who crave money and the easy life... yet if you want to live here you can make a decent living and want for nothing it just depends on whats important to you in your life....
