Hmmmmm I see a xmas present for my supressed 300blk it looks pretty simpleI like the quick change from suppressed to unsuppressed.....if I can gather the bucks I am going to give it a try.....

I use a vortex Diamond back3x10 milldot reticle went out to jays and shot it at 100,200,300and 400 wrote the dope down and put it on the bottom of my 10 rd mag the last elk I shot was 276 yards the one before that 306 yards the one before that 50 yards both the long range kills were one shot kills and the scope has been on for 4 years now and has never varied from original zero which is dead nuts on at 100 yards.......

Hmmmmmmmmmmm stalking huh? ok then weight will make a difference , your 338 should not scope you if the scope is set up right but in any case you do not want more than a 16 inch barrel you can kill a hog sized target to 450 no problem . keep the accessories to a minimum use a carbon fiber hand guard and I would use a carbine stock makes it alot easier to adjust for clothing or a pack or whatever, put a ACC brakeout on the end and get to killin hogs this is no rocket science shoot 168 barnes TTSX and you are good to go you could build the whole thing for under 2 grand, it will look kinda like this and it will do this... all day long.

Welcome from Idaho biggest state in the USA, after you pound it out flat that is ...... well barrel length is all dependent on what you plan to do with it, if you are just going to plunk it up on a bench and shoot paper or steel the length does not matter but!!!!! if you ever want to hunt with it think long and hard about barrel length. with a 24 inch semi bull barrel and a nightforce scope the y are made about 5 miles from me you are looking at 20 lbs and you will not hunt with it no way no how unless hunting is sitting in a tower or something like that , and that is each to his own but you came to the right place to find out... good luck...

yes he had the 06 with him but he always used the 270 it was his favorite rifle and 130 grain spitzers were his favorite pill for the gun I was just at the museum again and looked at that gun man could it tell stories...

Remember Jack O'Conner, killed Everything! in North America with a 270 with 130 grain bullets, you can do the same with a 308 and 168's...... but hey it is about dreams right? go for it and post pics when you are done...

We have a winner ,shot placement is always the key ,having said that I have a friend who guides up there and he carries a shotgun pump 870 stainless and loads it buck,slug buck slug buck slug.... and says at 15 ft and under it is deadly to anything.....
