Only advice I can give you is to NOT mount the barrel on the Upper Receiver until your BAFTE paperwork gets back to you approved !
Exception unless the muzzle device is welded on the barrel and measures 16.0"
I have a chart for a lot of calibers But I'm not sharing it this time. It has ranges of gas port sizes for different lenght barrels per caliber and what different manufactors are using.
Its like a "Rudder" that the Captain would keep...Trade secrets.
Let's see... compared to 6.5 more prevaileint than Creedmore or Grendel. The 300blk are free so it wins just have to cut and convert 223rem. 260 only see it in specific stores like Sportmans or a really good Lgs, but you could covert 308 in a pinch.. th 6.8spc is showing up in more Lgs as ammo finally runs $20 to$29 per box of 20. Rem new brass 50 bag at $35 to $40. Can't get SSA anymore locally, that sucks ! Range is 1/4 mile to kill deer but with a long barrel 600 yards to target. 110gr , 115gr projos are very effective at double the mass of a 223 round. 6.5 as similar ballistic stats but better projos with better selection of projos although ammo is inferior. Reloading is a big plus for the 6.5's JMHO. So take that with a grain of salt.

Shortly after that episode, I started measuring and recording all the gas port sizes on everything I built. If there were ever any problems down the road, I had that info to refer to.
The 150fmj are plinkers. Are those 180 gr a bimetallic tip ? I loaded a box of 50.kind of pricey.
I did a test with every plastic tip bullet I could find. Put the in 308's and 300wsm. I still have most of my 300wsm In plastic boxes. Just don't {can't} shoot that many per session. And no one else wants too either.{Kitties} LOL
Once again Tom's right !
Twist rate is very important !
Long bullets have a better cD effiency mainty boattails with hollow points or a plastic tip.
Scener 155 is a very good bullet also Berger 180gr VLD.
Heavier bullets also won't move as much in the wind as a lighter bullet. It will drop faster.
But you would be leaving out calibers like ;
40S&W , 10mm , 357sig
And 5.7mm , 6.8spc , 300wm , 338fed
Everybody NEEDS a couple of those just to keep things interesting.
I saw that after the gummi bears story over the weekend . Funny is poop. Some people deserve what they get. The other workers in the office definately were going along with him. Moving desk, you can't make up that poop.
I did some stuff like that before when co workers pull stuff. Put their desk on a pallet then put it up on G level , 30 feet in the air on the racks at night. Pay back is a bitch !
That's good ! I have two projos left in a box, currenty our of 30 cal that I can use for 308s.
Found that a OAL of 2.790" to 2.795" is a sweet spot on the 1X loads of 42.5gr.
Read post #27 in this thread : it works. I worked up a load to 42.5gr with 168grSMK and Hornady168gr HPBT ,the FGMM loads are proven winners...so copy them !
Welcome from AZ !
All good advice ^^ , depending on your budget !
Buy a complete upper ,DPMS pattern then build the lower half from parts.
Much easier to do and affordable, you will be building your own gun and the upper headspacing issue will be taken care of. You will be able to customize the lower as you see fit.
