  1. Yeah, even with half a team, great QB and coaching staff we can still beat most teams. Go Pats!
  2. I assume you're going to have a blast baffle section in the rear of the tube? Nice job on the "M" baffles BTW.
  3. I have the DMR and am very impressed with it's performance. My .02
  4. Get a CNC guns "paperweight" lower ( 80%). Uses GG mags as stated. GG mags will not fit in a regular lower. No one has mentioned Mad Machinists .45 stuff. Rudy Koester (sp?) I think. Gas operated, not blowback. I used some of his parts to build mine. Runs like a top. Seems like that Ron guy has an ongoing pissing contest with Rudy, don't know why. Look at BARF and CNC guns forums and form your own opinions.
  5. Ok, Just saw this. What is the length of the correct screw? I have a PRS stock on my build, but can't remember what I used from 1 1/2 years ago. God Damn CRS. ::)
  6. Maybe Sintered Aluminum? I looked it up and it exists, although I don't know if it would be feasable to use in this application. I saw no properties correlation to other grades i.e. 2024,7075, A356, etc. I used to machine pure sintered Molybdenum for high temperature parts. It would leave a powdery dust insted of chips. It also chipped off on edges so you had to be careful of cutters and toolpaths. In some respects it machined like cast metals. You might ask them about it, I'd be interested to know too.
  7. I'm bummed, I wanted to tell him to send his stuff back too. Looks FUBAR to me. LOL I really have to wonder the ages of some folks who post stuff on forums. They really must "live" in fantasy land. I'm 51 and think I know the differences between quality goods and serious douchebaggery in general. Are these younger guys, who are from the me, me, I, I generation? Epic fail. Are these the same people at the range with scoped AR's and AK's bench firing at the 25 yard targets? I wonder? YMMV
  8. I have a Criterion barrel and used a PRI .936 dia. low profile adjustable gas block. Worked great. You'll love that barrel.
  9. Nothing wrong with that. It'll buff right out. ::)
  10. I see no fitment issues on that guys pic, even if you could place a Home Depot refund card ( .0215 ) in there. As a tool and die guy and rifle builder those parts are fine, without getting into tolerances and stacking of tolerences. If you feel the need to tighten up the upper and lower, either get a wedge, or bed down the rear lug. I hope you don't blame all accuracy issues on just the parts when you're done too. Geesh
  11. I just received and installed my new Geisselle High Speed DMR trigger today. Holy Sh^t, it is bad ass! I can't wait to try it out. It's like going from flying a Cessna 172 to flying a Lear 40. :))
  12. You might want to toque the barrel nut more before you finalize any assembly, 30 pounds is a little low.
  13. Take a look at the Precision Armament M11 Brake. I bought one and like it alot, also have a Slash heavy buffer. Nice piece of machining and research behind it.
  14. If you have a rifle lower and just "have" the SBR upper it could be construed as "intent" and "constructive possession" by the alphabet boys. This topic beaten to death on many forums.
  15. I've finished my DPMS style .308 and the last thing I need to install is the BHO catch. I have read now a couple of times of them breaking. I currently have the one left over from my DPMS LPK. I have a TM lower and the BHO is held captive with a dowel pin and set screw. This gives you a one shot try as once the pin is installed, it can't be removed. Any recommendations for a "good or "best"" BHO. Maybe one made from billet? Or should I just use the one that came with the DPMS LPK and hope for the best? It would be nice to have it installed when I first fire this rifle at the range, as I also have an adjustable gas block as well. TIA
  16. Started thinking about this right around Thanksgiving. I poured over this site and soaked up a lot of information, this is the result. DPMS A3 upper and bolt FA barrel 18.5 1:10 PRI adjustable gas block Apex handguard GG&G bipod PA brake Magpul stock Slash heavy buffer I think this thing rocks, also one of the most expensive pieces that I've built. Need to check headspace and test fire.
  17. Thanks for the replys, it's a non issue now. I'm more concerned that I could only find a lightweight DPMS A3 upper to buy. I have enough cash invested so far and didn't want to go the billet route. The more metal between my face, .308 rounds and reciprocating parts the better. I'm still waiting on my bolt, to arrive so I can rent some gauges and check the headspace.
  18. Problem solved, I remeasured when all parts were at the same temp as well as calipers and was a little closer than I thought. I realize that it needs to be pretty close for bolt lock up. Does anyone have an actual spec/ tolerence on the notch width? A .125 diameter pin should have a .001 or so clearanceI would worry if someone just used the barrel nut to jam on a barrel and cause any kind of an interference fit that would stress the front of the upper. I do know that anodizing adds a little thickness too.
  19. I decided to build my own upper and purchased a new DPMS upper receiver, and a Krieger barrel. I have finally received both parts and found an issue. The notch in the upper receiver that holds the alignment pin is .125" and the pin on the barrel is .134". The machinist in me says to take .005 off of each side of the notch. Is it common to have to do this? I'm no stranger to "custom" work and it's an easy fix for me ( I have a mill with a DRO). I'm just wondering if that's a common issue. I would think, if anything on the gun, that would be standardized.
  20. Thank you both for the welcome. I decided on doing this a couple of days ago and started gleening knowledge about parts compatability issues and quality as I would rather buy once and be happy. I saw Brownells is out of 308 pmags, is there another source, go direct to Magpul? Thanks again, John H. in NH
  21. Hello, FNG here. I've read a bit and wanted to get an opinion or two on what I want to build parts wise. I have a background as a machinist as well. I've shot for many years and have a decent handle on what MOA is, shooting MOA at distance and what that entails on my part. ::) I'm starting with an 80% Tactical Machining lower, no problems there. Leaning towards a complete side cocking upper from Fulton Armory with an 18.5" barrel with1:10 twist. Seems like a no brainer as it's complete and headspaced and looks to be in stock on their website. It would seem as though I'd have close to that price ($1135.00)or more invested in cobbling something similiar together myself ( I do know how to headspace weapons, but would need to rent the gauges as well). Precision Armament Brake Magpul PRS stock Slash/ heavy buffer DPMS LPK FCG? DPMS or Magpul mags ( any thoughts?) Leatherwood ART scope ( I have one and like it ) Bipod (undecided, never liked Harris though) Anything else I'm missing?
