  1. I say stand tall WITH the system and give it all you can. If you set out to work against it and start running your own show (so to speak) upper management will see this and although they MAY empathize, since they are committed to making the inadequate system work, they will begin to see people who's hearts aren't in it and have more people to blame for THEIR failures. New inventory management systems aren't always a failure because of an inadequate system itself but many times due to people wanting to do things "the way they always have". Material movements and processes sometimes also need to change to make the system AND the materials more in-sync and it's the people resisting that makes things tough. I'm not saying the system is good at all either, it may stink like ass all day but many times with a little out of the box thinking, there may be ways of making everything fall more "in tune" with it's inadequacies and still be able to work. I'm just a big dumb guy but I was with APC for 10 years, 5 countries and 9 facilities and then worked with a number of smaller companies who were having issues and I was fortunate enough to be able to help with the right people in place. I know how frustrating it can be but if you aren't one of the decision makers in the big chairs, don't get caught being the guy that saying "it's never gonna work". Management types, even though things are not going the way they intended, will tend to see you as one of the causes of the failures rather than someone who stood by them when things were sucking big wind. Again, I'm not some kinda "know-it-all" or even any kind of system or IT guy. I was just a guy from the floor who found a way to make things work BETTER by using some good ol yankee ingenuity and stick-to-it-ive-ness when things were going tough. It paid big when changes were made and they needed someone they could count on when setting up new facilities around the world. Problems between systems and materials ended up becoming "my kinda thing" eventually. Although, what the heck do I know, I'm happy to afford bullets lately..lol
  2. Just whittling down choices for my next build..

  3. Heck. I wouldn't even tell my wife what HER rifle cost never mind anything of mine...lol It's kind of a "you don't ask and I won't volunteer it" kinda thing around my house... I got GREAT wife. She just shoots em and smiles and then reminds me to be a good boy cuz, well, she's a hell of a shot...lol
  4. Indeed Sir... Indeed. Nothin like buyin em live and listening to em hiss when you drop em into the boil... I've been saying I was going to make a chowder "soon" for about the last 6 months but maybe I'll finally throw one together. I make a clear clam chowder that'll make ya wanna move here...
  5. I took a couple of shifts guarding that plane when the drag boat found it. They had it sitting on the Ferry dock for a couple of days. I'm in the Hope Valley area. God's country.
  6. I'm sure we've churned some O the same suds over the years. Good to meet you Sir...
  7. For you guys in dire need, I'll be selling some ideal "rifle stand cardboard boxes" at bargain prices in the clubhouse. They are even already their own shipping container so I'm thinking $49.95 per and I'll take the hit on the shipping. Act fast before your states makes you get a permit to purchase. These are "un-serialized" boxes so buy a bunch. I'll even drop the price to $45.95 for orders of 18 or more....
  8. Yea. Bluefish are all over the place around here all summer. Definitely not tuna like in taste though. I make a good bluefish soup but that about the only way we eat it. Striper is good all different kinds of way and I'll make deep fried Striper nuggets for my sons a lot. Other fish we get are summer and winter flounder and tataug (blackfish) from shore. Offshore, when I have a boat, it'll be tuna, makos, threshers, and mahi. Never been out far enough to get tilefish but it's another bucket lister as is swordfish and marlin... Once we get back over the top moneywise (I was out of work for a while), we'll start lookin at another boat. Till then it'll just be stripers and inshore stuff.. There's an old joke about eating bluefish. You get a bit giant pot and place a smooth rock, (about 3 lbs) in the bottom of it and fill it with water. Pour in salt and add in a bunch of chunked up bluefish. Bring it to a boil. Then you go outside, dump out the water and all of the bluefish and eat the rock. It'll be the best part of the meal anyway...lol
  9. Nice. I've never been out to do any good salmon fishing although it's on the bucket list. I LOOOOOVE smoked salmon... And no, although I've caught 27 makos and 3 threshers, that was just an old photo of a Blue Shark I grabbed for a tourney. It was 11'10" and over 400lbs. I brought him in on a 21 foot boat too.. 5 hour battle with him on a 50lb test rig...lol Not exactly the rod I was hoping he'd latch onto but it was a bout to remember at least. I hate keeping things I'm not going to eat but I've got a friend with a crap load of dogs and they fed well on Blue Shark all winter long so it didn't go to a total waste. My son in the photo has either 7 or 8 keeper stripers so that was just one of em. His biggest is 36 inches but we took last year off of fishing due to me working so much but we're hoping to hit things pretty hard this year if all goes well. My 8 year old is itchin for some keeper fish too so we'll see.
  10. We do a lot of night fishing. Here is my oldest son, (he was 8 at the time) with one of our "usual" catches. He's a hardcore fisherman all day. Makes me proud. We'll canoe inside a breachway, back in the channels and he'll hit em hard all night with me. The second one is of a lil shark I yanked in one day...
  11. I've been fishing the Salty waters off RI since my Great Grandfather got me started as a toddler. I'm 50 now and have owned a few boats (not currently however) and have done fresh water, saltwater "inshore" as in surf-casting for stripers and shoreline fish, and also offshore for sharks and tuna. Both of my sons, now 8 and 10 and even my wife also fish and my darlin wife even fought a few sharks on our last boat. She's as much into shooting as she is fishing and I am thrilled since I've never done ANY of those things guys do to "get away from the Ole lady" or whatever. I've got a great girl and we have as much fun at or on the ocean as we do at the range and pretty much anywhere we are. My sons are the 6th generation of RI fishermen for my family. Any other Briney types around?
  12. Are you a fisherman of the RI Shorelines as well or just a shooter? I fish the Charlestown Beach and Breachway all the time... I'm from down that way...
  13. I've got a SuperComp XL on my AR10 20inch and put a SuperComp Talon on my wife's new M15 in 7.62x39. The AR10, which my 10 year old son has shot without the brake, is now almost reduced to the point that my 8 yo could shoot it and my wife's M15 is practically like nothing at all for recoil. She can shoot it all day long (VERY accurately too I might add) without any issues and she's just tiny at 5'1 and 115lbs. The SuperComp XL might be a bit heavy for hunting though. It definitely adds a bit of weight up front although I do believe it's available in titanium.
  14. Availability of ammo is always a big factor for me when choosing weapons since I'm not a re-loader (yet). The 7.62x40 looks nice at first glance and is a great concept and possibly even a great round but when you think back to the ammo drought not too long ago, trying to find 300blk or 6.8SPC was like hunting for dinosaur teeth at a delicatessen. These are factors I take into consideration with all purchases from now on. Even if it may not be PERFECT. If it is common enough to get my hands on quickly and relatively cheaply, it has now become a bigger option than choosing something more pigeon-holed even if it's not the absolute best option for the niche. I think getting a little TOO finely tuned could be more detrimental than going with what WILL work. Perhaps if the X40 takes off and is suddenly a big round made by numerous manufacturers and widely available, I will see things differently but for me, I'll take availability over "the perfect" choice all day at this point in our country's constantly evolving situations. Still though, if I had the greenage to buy the rifle(s) and a few thousand rounds of ammo up front, I might also see it differently. It's a nice piece indeed.
  15. Thanks Unforgiven. Pleasure to be here Sir.
  16. Yep. And he even told ME too...
  17. I like the concept and it's a very nice looking rifle but then I checked for availability of ammo and wow. $40 for 20 rounds. I also checked around and Wilson seems to be practically the only manufacturer after a short, semi-superficial search. I just picked up an Armalite M15 carbine in 7.62x39 for my wife a few months ago and after a little tweaking on the mags, it's a serious tack driver and even buying brass ammo for it is a breeze since I don't prefer steel cases through my Armalites. I've found that as long as you only load 25 rounds in the 30 round mags, you can run fast and hard all day without a hiccup. You CAN do 30 but if you are going to have a failure, it is normally going to occur when you go with the full load. It's a really nice thought and probably an outstanding rifle but for the "avid" shooter and enthusiast, it's a bit on the exotic and expensive side IMO...
  18. A friend told me about this place and is also a member. That's how I got here. Fine lookin place you have here gentlemen.
