  1. I wish the spooks I use for Striped Bass only cost 4 bucks. The good handmade ones we use normally START at around 20ish and shoot up from there... :))
  2. All the best right back at ya Unforgiven - and the rest O you fellas TOO I spose... :)) God Bless.
  3. Nothing at the moment but by early next week, I should either have 2 new rifles or 1 new rifle and a couple of new semi autos on their way.... >:D
  4. Thanks for clarifying Robo. I can work with specifics and they are appreciated. By the way, what kind of changes and/or parts have you gone with to relieve the feed issues you had with your X39 AR? The feed issues ARE what it's all about with them and opening up the feed ramps a bit AND dremeling down the front edge of the mags a bit seemed to level off my wife's very nicely but we still have to be careful about WHO loads the mags. You can't just have anyone come up and load a mag any old way and have it work right like I can with a 556 or AR10s. It's kinda fussy but when you do it right, it's a great tool. I'd be interested in hearing about your uppers, mags and anything else you've got going in this type of AR.
  5. I already have an Armalite M15 in 7.62x39 (my wife's) and after playing with the mags a bit and opening up the feed ramps a hair, it's running like a champ. I just wanted to go in another direction for a build. You say "they suck". Why? What didn't work?
  6. Kicking around some "alternate" ideas and since we've been having so much fun with the AK ammo, I was looking at these mini 30s and some of the accessories that you can get for em. What do you guys think will take more abuse? Stainless steel barrel or the "blued steel alloy" barrel? Does anyone actually own one? I'd like to hear some thoughts please. Oh yea, their made in America too which is always a plus...
  7. This is a good thing... Congrats... <thumbsup>
  8. God Bless you all Sir. I'm sure those of us that do such things, have already sent words to the man upstairs for a very happy outcome and good health to you all. <thumbsup>
  9. Did your dog vote for members of the current administration?? That could explain it... and yes, he's gotta go for a short "happy walk" now over behind the barn....
  10. God Help me I"M BLIIIND! !!!!!! That was SOOO nasty....(We need an icon where the smiley guy is stabbing his own eyes out with a ice pick) ^-^
  11. Since I used these today for the first time, I'll throw it out here. These things are AWESOME. Went shooting today with my wife and sons. Total long-gun day with the M4 and a few ARs including my 10er. I have NEVER finished shooting without having my ears doing at least a LITTLE ringing cuz I tend to be a little sloppy with my "ear muff techniques" so I had picked up a set of "Surefire EP4 Sonic Defender" ear plugs and was REALLY impressed. They fit into my ears well and have a bit of an "ear gear" thing with them that just seemed to work extremely well. We have muzzle devices on 2 of our ARs and I stood right beside my 8 year old when he was shooting my wife's today and nothing. Not a single db made it through that got me ringing. They were like 12 or 13 bucks on Amazon and I am totally sold on these things. I have like 8 different sets of ear muffs and even though i am going badly deaf already, I STILL ring like a bell every time I leave the range since nothing ever worked right for me until now. These things are gold and I'm going to be buying more for my wife and boys this week because since I KNOW they work first-hand, I want them to wear them as well for the best protection I can get for them. I've used the foam plugs and all kinds of stuff over the years and this is the very first time I've ever been so impressed. Just my thoughts on this stuff guys. Today I stepped into a better shooting life...
  12. Kip (CarrierComp owner) is a good guy and extremely busy keeping up with all of his titanium tubes. I didn't like the waiting period for a lot of his stuff though and went with a full length mag tube from Dave's Metal Works and they also have a bolt release that is outSTANDING !!!. I think it was like 20 bucks or something and gives you much more space for a fast reach and release than the God awful expensive titanium release "buttons" that everyone seems to find so "stylish"... The Dave's Metal Works full length mag tube is steel and was only $75.00 and was easier to put on than I thought it would be. I would definitely recommend both of those items if you or your son were ever looking to upgrade anything else. Good luck. I'm certain you'll be very happy with the spring. The best thing about the full length mag tube is that is makes take-down a few steps quicker since you no longer NEED to remove the extension to take the gun apart which is nice..
  13. Seeing your garden reminded me of something I read once and I figured we're so off topic now anyway, what the hell. Guiseppe was very upset. It was planting time and his son that always tilled and planted his garden had been arrested and was in prison. He tried to do it himself but he was old and the ground was so very hard and eventually he was forced to give up. In his depression, he sat down and wrote his son a letter: Dear Anthony, I am so sad right now. You will probably be in prison for years and without the garden this year, I am afraid I will be very hungry. I tried to do it myself but without you here, I am just not strong enough. The ground is so very hard and with not much money, I cannot afford to have anyone do it. I am sorry to bother you with this son. I just miss you and now I'm afraid I may starve as well. After a couple of weeks, Guiseppe received a return letter: Dear Father, Please don't dig around in the garden !!! There are things buried in there that could be very incriminating and with my new trial coming up, things could go VERY badly for me if they were found. your son Anthony Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Guiseppe opened it to find a dozen federal agents all standing there with shovels and a warrant. 1 week later, another letter arrived. It read: Dear Dad, I hope those feds didn't scare you too much but the garden should be in fine shape for planting by now. Sorry for the scare but it was the best I could do. Anthony
  14. Carriercomp has a spring they had made JUST for the extension tubes. When I had my 1 round extension cap made for mine (it gave me 8 in the tube), I had the exact same problem for a little while. Then I bought 1 of the Carrier Comp super springs and I've never had a single issue since. Those things are gold man and work extremely well. I actually bought 2. Now I need to do another M4 build completely around my spare spring...lol
  15. You are as fortunate with that tray of yummies as you are insightful Sir... That photo even made my wife's mouth water... Now that I think about it, I gotta get offline and take advantage of the moment... >:D
  16. You are a vicious, hateful thing aren't you... :))
  17. God Bless the victims and those who cared about them.
  18. My wife would kick my ASS if she caught me posting this one... >:D
