Such an ironic piece of truth here.. That's funny...

Indeed... Planning for the impending unknown is a concern and a source of frustrating madness on both a short and long term basis. It may seem odd but I think the majority of cops probably DON'T have the stockpiles that many civilians do. Most of the ones I knew and still know now are more concerned with keeping enough on hand to get them through the next day and worrying about if or when a SHTF situation arises tends to be an after thought. 20 years ago when I was in the mix, these kinds of (long term) needs were never even considered by most of us anyway.

Welcome Shovel. What part of RI? I'm South County area.

I had amoebic dysentery twice in my life so I can definitely relate to this scenario. I can also say it is HILARIOUS to read about when it's someone ELSE that's done the suffering... Satan bears...that's good. Makes me wanna bring a bag to where I work now and just leave a bowl in the main office...lol

Wilson Combat 7.62X40 WT - The Practical .30 AR Solution
Sharkey replied to 98Z5V's topic in Wilson Combat 7.62 x 40 WT
I just checked and I can do custom work in flourescent orange, green, red and I even have and old can of spray on undercoating if you like the rough black look. I'll throw in the paint for free but of course, custom work will require a bit of labor compensation. The runs and drips I'll throw in for free as well cuz, well, I ain't no picasso man...lol -
I actually don't know anything about the clay or other guns they put out. All I ever wanted was an M4 and a couple of years ago I took the plunge. With the Urbino Stock on there, I can literally dump 1600fps slugs all day long and never have so much as a mark on my shoulder or soreness the next day and I've done 160-200 shells before in a day. I've retired the Rem 1100 I actually built back in '85 and put that with some of my other "down the hole" guns for safe keeping but it served me well for a lot of years. Oddly enough, when I first bought my 1100 so many years ago, I put a fixed pistol grip/shoulder stock on it, had it parkerized and added a mag extension and a black plastic forend and it looked a LOT like my M4 today. A lot of guys I was working with back then like the pistol grip only shotgun or the mossberg pumps but I've always been a semi auto guy. The M4 is a serious upgrade compared to my Rem 1100 and although I've put it away for safe keeping now, I still have a lot of love for that old shooter as well.

I know it's not domestic but oh man, do these things sing.... Mine is a 10 shot. 8+1+1 and will rock pretty much anything just as fast as you can pull the trigger and keep on kicking ass all day long. One of the few weapons I own that I truly pined over for years and years before finally throwing the coin for it. Rifles, handguns, all of em just happened to land in my hands when the timing was right but the Benelli M4 was something I drooled over for literally years before taking the leap. And I have never ONCE regretted doing it. They really are all that they claim to be.

lol I always thought it was a 14 but it's not currently "on-hand" so pics aren't readily available. I bought it on the cheap when we first got together just to get her started and then put it away when she moved up. If I'm wrong on the length, my mistake and my apologies. I'm pretty sure it's the MKII though and probably a 10 incher but with the heavy barrel. I don't own any custom stuff so that's all it could be. I had just grabbed it as a beater and for her to learn on so I never did pay much attention to the stats as long as it shot straight. I've never been big on those guru details like some of you smarter types...

Here's the boat I caught a whole hell of a lot of sharks from. Our next one was bigger but this one was my favorite. I used to take this thing 40 and 50 miles out and seas that bigger boats would balk at and she always brought me home. My wife and I got caught on the other side of Montauk, NY, about 30 miles from home in quite a squall one day. She held on to the rail in front of her seat with her rain hood pulled down over her face as we road home on the backs of 7-10 foot seas, driving rains, black skies and wind takin the tops right off the waves. If the wind hadn't been blowing towards home (southwest) I probably wouldn't be typing here or anywhere today. I miss that boat more than all of em I've had. We fish, we shoot and we enjoy our boys (8 and 10). My wife and I are both 50 and her daughter (my step-daughter) lives out in Michigan right now but we're hopin she'll find her way back this way again after college but ya never know. She's thinking about joining the Army to train dogs... I think that would be a good thing. I was 11bravo but couldn't be anything but proud if she was training canine 11bravos - anything to help our guys up front is a fine pursuit in my mind...

I spose that would depend on the bullet that hit ya....

I was in Denmark and some consultant took us all out to dinner. The prices were like $100 bucks just for the appetizers and I ordered the smoked salmon. They came out with a side of fish almost as big as that hog in the photo. 5 different kinds of sauce and cut it into thin slices for me and anyone else who wanted some. Had them little fancy spoons for the sauce that you barely get a half a bump with but I was thinking, "Sauce? Really? Just gimme the damn salmon man and let's get ta chompin"... I would never have gone to that place had it not been his choice but oh maaaaan was that a meal. I think the entree was like 175 bucks or something but after the salmon, I can't even remember what the heck I ate....

I tried giving up being handsome a few years back but it apparently didn't take... :))

I'm with you Shepp, rode myself for years and on all the wrong roads. I do boats now and that's not for everyone either. Hell, I was 40 miles from shore, alone, shark fishing on a 21 foot boat...lol We all get our highs differently I spose and I love a bit of danger in my life still but with my sons, I'm just careful is all and just not being into the ice fishing thing, I don't figure we're missin out on too much. My 8 year old is looking forward to shooting my wife's M15 and my 10 year old has put a couple of mags through my AR10 already and has had some pretty nice targets out to 200 so I don't figure they're missin out on freezing their feet off for some perch and a couple O bass. Fresh water fish around here tend to be small anyway which is why we like the salt... God Bless ya man and don't give up anything you love till ya feel it inside to do so.

Do you tell your fellow shooters and friends about this site?

I can now say yes. I do. -
I almost forgot that bluefish "smoked" is awesome. They always have some down at Champlin's in Galilee and I'll get the peppered smoked bluefish and eat an entire side in like 10 minutes while my wife cringes and picks on me for liking it...lol You can order seafood directly from them if anyone is interested. Great place and they deal directly with the boats bringing in fresh fish every day so the freshness is never an issue. I hope I can post this link to their website. If not, I apologize in advance if it's an infraction. I have no affiliation with them other than just having been a customer since I could drive and when it's too cold or rough to go catch my own. Just thought a few inlander's that like lobster or other salt water fish might want a good connection and this is the best I know of. It's where we go whenever we want lobster and we live here. http://champlins.com/

She likes shooting from the bench but no bags or anything. She elbows everything and kicks ass all day. I taught her how to shoot handguns using a 14 inch barrel Ruger 22 by throwing golf balls on the ground and having her shoot em. She said "what do I do when I hit it? It's gonna move." And "that's where the challenge comes in Honey"... She got good fast and there been no stopping her since. I'm just glad we have a great relationship...lol

God Bless the people STILL out there thinking of new ways to keep our people alive out there.

It's bad to have to handle the ones you pull out but I think the thing that hangs with me the most, now that I'm a parent, is the absolute horror on the faces of parents or siblings when they realize the situation. I just never, ever, in a million years want to have that doubled over, falling to the ground like a wet rag, screaming in horror, utterly tragic and helpless pain that I've watched people go through. It's something that just seeing and being a part of, tears you to pieces more than just having to pull someone out. At 50 years old, with my sons only 8 and 10, I probably hold on a bit tighter than most cuz of the crap I've grown up doing and seeing but I'll tell you what guys, I've seen parents with that look and it's not one I ever want to take part in myself. Bad enough to have been there for someone else's pain never mind dealing with it myself. I'll pass all day on that one. God Bless your guides friend Sisco and damn, that's a helluva nice fish... A big one for around these parts would be about 18 or 20 inches max... Maybe once every couple of years you hear about a salmon being caught somewhere around here but they are like hens teeth. I sure do love me some smoked salmon though. I treat myself to some smoked bluefish now and again but the wife TOTALLY refuses to kiss me right after I eat a whole piece...lol
-
I'm actually surprised at the accuracy. I figured it for "OK" before I bought it but the darn thing hit what you aim at man... Here's one of my wife's targets at 75. I don't think a mag even lasts her 2 minutes so she was in there for sure. I'm pretty sure there were 20 rounds in that mag so there are some repeat holes in there. Needless to say, I like my wife to stay "happy"... :))

Picked up this tan beauty queen today

Nice stick man. I'm JUST starting to save for my next one. Gonna be a while. How's the Benelli treatin ya? Give it the beating it deserves yet? -
I've got a thing about being on the ice. I've been a volunteer fireman for essentially my entire life since my father became a chief when I was 2 months old and I'm 50 now and he's STILL chief...lol Pulled too damn many kids and people out over the years from all the ponds and rivers in my area and now that I have sons, I just don't even TALK about going out on ice. Just kinda leave the idea alone and don't bring it up.. Plus, it's not good for my little toesies... They could catch a chill... ^-^

Nice. I'd be using a reflex site on mine as well. That's in 7.62x39? These things are a blast to shoot in this caliber...
-
I was looking for a new rifle for my wife that would still pack a punch but light enough for her to really be able to enjoy shooting and decided on an Armalite M15 in 7.62x39. Following after market parts installed: Armalite adjustable stock Hogue Grip Midwest Industries drop in railed handguards SuperComp Talon Brake in .308 Nikon 3x9-44 mil dot scope Fab Magwell grip Streamlight with a pressure switch (I love these lights) Single point sling (one I had hanging around) It started out a little temper mental but after taking the dremel to the front edge of the mags, it has come together VERY well and is now a definite force at the range. My wife was hitting solid 2 inch groups for a 25 round mag fired within about 2 minutes at 75 yards and is thrilled with the performance at this point as am I. My problem is, this is a SERIOUSLY fun caliber so now I'm thinking about the RRA LAR-47 for myself. I can't go getting the EXACT same thing as my wife for gosh sakes, I mean, people would talk... Like wearing matching ski suits or something... Anyway, I'm definitely on the market (as soon as I figure out where to get the money from) for a new toy and the LAR-47 is an early front runner. Not in production yet but I like the design and some early reviews have seemed quite positive. Anyone got any ARs in this caliber? I'm looking at everything again.

I was right, I don't know crap about what you are saying..lol I've dealt with Man-man, Entree's (mom and pop shop stuff), Oracle 10.7 and 11i, UPS Roadnet (or something like that), Omega Cube and a half dozen other types of systems but was never ONCE involved with the software side. Always the guy on the ground finding a way to make the nightmares work. I'd be sitting in meeting with Master's degrees and when they'd look at me for answers, I'd laugh and say "what are you guys looking at ME for? You're the damn scientists!!! I'm just the crash dummy..."lol What you're talking about is a bit beyond my level of expertise so um, well, er, Best of luck with your next project !!! :))
