Yep an AC generator has to run at a certain speed to maintain 60 Cycles, 45Kw is a lot of power and should run two large family homes.

Texas is on their own electricity grid, not connected to any other we sink or swim on our own. The privately owned (stockholders) providers are more interested in profits than keeping up the infrastructure and The previous Gov. and legislators put up 7 Billion tax dollars in subsidies for wind mills and 23% of the supply system is wind turbines. We haven't had as severe cold weather like this in 30 years. We have been in single digits with snow and ice since Sunday and haven't been above freezing since . I have had a Heatolater wood burning fireplace in the master bedroom since we built. I am sensitive to smoke so we put in a set of gas logs. We have a 250 gallon propane tank for the fireplace so we are okay. Our electric provider is a COOP and not connected to the privately owned providers and our power has not been off any. All the towns around have been without power for 2 or 3 days now.. I also have a 10KW gas generator for a backup, and it hasn't been needed for 8 years so far. I am thinking I will get a 20Kw propane powered unit that is automatically kicks in in case of an extended outage, either a Cummins / Onan unit or a Generac unit . for around $5K. it ids only money.

The standby generators are very portable.

Yes Doc so if you hope to have electric energy in emergencies you best provide it yourself. Like a 20KW propane or Natural gas generator, kept maintained. I found them complete for around $6K. relying on politicians to keep you safe is kind of like a baby bird sitting in the nest with it's mouth open hoping Mom will always come back with a worm and drop it in your mouth. Drill and frac baby! That Biden idea of "transitioning from coal and petroleum" to wind and solar don't work, and probably never will. I figure more Americans will die from freezing and slick roads than ever will die from Nuclear power plants. Go Nuclear !

But the angle of the dangle wouldn't be right, Matt Looks like somebody went to a lot of trouble just to roast a tiny piggy, or is that a fat squirrel?

I ordered three of the screw top bucket lids from Amazon, thanks for the idea. We will keep our pellets in one or two and our wild birdseed in the 3rd one. Gamma Lid, 5 Gallon Screw Top Lids Gamma Bucket Seal Lid Leak Proof for Plastic Bucket, Black (3)

Well not this one the OD of the barrel at the muzzle is just a bit over.5. the flash holder has a reduced opening at the muzzle.

Heavens to Betsy, Keep all those ner-do-wells out of the Capital!

Something just happened as a surprise to this old fool. A large flock of American Robin red breast birds flew in the yard and our little field here. and started eating the blue stem seeds. They are having a field day! I haven't seen any since last spring. This has been one crazy year. . . . . INSANE!

Okay you do that. unforgiven I will be observing thru heavy lenses !

Us old timey native Americans, always say"Some times when snow be flying down, many White eyes from over there on the sunrise side beside big water, always are a bit crazy and go out and wrestle with each other and drink much firewater , shoot fire sticks when sane folks stay in wig -wam (teepee) and wrap up with squaw in nice buffalo robe and make pappose when snow is falling down. First full moon after ducks fly back North, be known to be named after our people, which is called Comanche Moon, be soon enough to put on war paint and go scalp some dumb assed white eyes and rescue many of their horses that they don't take proper care of!

Sensitivity training and after the first lesson we would be doing anger management and our instructor would need a pain management course. LOL

I got one of these for my 182 series Mini 14 . It has a slot for the original front sight and a longer roll pin, and i drilled and tapped he bottom below the slot for two 6-32 set screws. I would do the set screws for a LR308 aftermarket device also., maybe dimple the barrel a dab before using a High temp adhesive product . the cleaning rod and a 0.224 drill bit slides in and out with some wiggle room.

It is cold here where we usually have low temps in the low 20s on a bad night, The forecast for Monday is a low of -5F. to +5F. To me that is "colder than a witches tit in a brass bra."

You all better hush up about all of that news about that little gay midget guy doing porn movies, If Joe Biden hears about it he will want to give him the New Democratic Diversification Freedom Congressional Medal of Honor. and smell his you-know-what!

I figure with that kind of clearance the bullet will fly thru so fast the flashhider won't have time to fornicate up!

My son in law, that sells Japanese xray machines, messaged me and asked about having an AR10 built by somebody to savei his broke ass money, He has never seemed to want anything except a semi auto 9MM pistol to keep at home. He said he wanted to go hog hunting with a "friend". I told him he had been talking to the wrong person, and should asked me a long time ago...and he was S.O.L. now.
-
If you don't have an adequate amount of ammo or reloading supplies on hand it looks to me that you may be S.O.L. Most of us saw this as being predictable. quit shooting it all up at inanimate objects, like paper and steel, you may need it in 1776.2

Ride and tie sounds kinda like some of the old plains Indian games. But a bit more complicated.

what do you guys do to maximize space in your gun safes?
mrmackc replied to wwlefty's topic in General Discussion
I had a homebuilt Gun safe 4'x3' by 6' tall that a friend and I welded together out of 3/16" flat steel plate and I hauled it to three different homes back in the 197s0s and up to 1985. with two protected padlocks and wooden rifle racks and ammo and pistol shelves, It weighed close to 300# empty. Sold it when we moved to the lake (here) and I bought a 40 inch by 18" one from Acadamy. It was ok for a few years until I joined this site, Of course it got too small and didn't have enough room in the safe room (tornado proof) so I bought a Ruger one that I put together, now it is too small so I am in the market for another one. I figured that if I built one like the first one, it would cost more than a ready made one.. I decided rather than get another one I would sell off most of my long guns, because at my age and physical disabilities just keep one 3006 bolt action my 1100 12 ga. the Win 42, and mini 14 and model 94 Win 3030 and one Franchi 20 ga. long stroke semi auto. I will sell them to just Texas residents to avoid having to use a FFL dealer. Of course I have two sons and some grandsons that will have preference. Old Dad will probably give them a huge discount.
