(edited for truthfulness) I kind of revel in being deplorable, because I don't have any hired armed guards. I never voted for a Clinton and I never will.

Many good points made above. If hunting "whatever steps out no matter how big, mean or far away" take the 375 H&H bolt gun. It has worked on everything on every continent for me. (Yes, even red stag in New Zealand - it is a lightweight 375 H&H - good to hump in the mountains). Everything ended up DRT. Hunting North America, IMO all you really need is a 308AR that shoots and a 10 round mag or two of 180 grain pills, if large frame AR is your choice. But, please do build the 45 Raptor and keep us apprised of your progress and results! It is an interesting build and no further justification is necessary. You can't have too many rifles!

The Lancer L7AWM is full-on badass, the L5 has a video up on UTube where the guy throws it around and runs over it and it keeps going, and the L7 is built even more tough. I have both L7 and L5 varieties and will vouch they are good to go. I have not measured COAL they will accept, but mine are longer capacity than the M118 PMags I have. I like the stainless steel that Lancer adds to the polymer magazine standard. Also they fit well in my Seekins SP10 that has a tight well, the M118 PMags do not drop free. Pricey yes, but I got what I paid for.... Lancer for me. I haven't handled the ASC though, might have to get a couple for a trial run. Never too many mags, right?

Phil Shoemaker has been around in and writing about Alaska for a good long time, and it surprises me that the kill did not involve a lever action 450 Marlin. But no matter, the 9 worked. Not my choice, but it worked. I figure all three people involved had to change their panties right away tho. Just sayin, WOW!

So far everything I have bought that says Geissele on it has been good to go. I am betting this setup will be too, but we will need a full report of course. Ss, you are having too much fun this weekend. I wish I was building a rifle...

Let us know how it works or doesn't. I am running two PWS piston sticks in 308 and 5.56, I like how clean the piston guns run but a new twist here is interesting. This does look like a good project! The piston guns can be accurate too, don't believe all you hear...

By my thinking this guy is a little crazy... I would not throw my hi_$ racegun in the cattle tank! LOL I still like the looks of the receiver set, but the Xanthos is lighter yet. I am still looking, want a walking around hunter more than a race gun. Sketch, thanks for sharing the video, it is entertaining!

I have a Seekins SP10 16" barrel. Very nice quality there, good value for your dollar if you want precision. And it is a tack-driving machine. A little heavy with a UBR (by feel, have not weighed). I like it much though. Glen Seekins' boys know how to run a CNC fo sho!

Right on Brother Fletch! The F-1 is the set I remembered, but the Xanthos seems like it is lighter yet! Now, have any of you builders used either one of these? I like the look of the cutout windows, but rigidity could be an issue, maybe. The Xanthos should not have that problem... but quality of machining, fit of build parts, etc? Anyone got experience building on these sets???

Howdy Y'all, I saw a skeletonized receiver set on Gunbroker a month or so ago, it had windows machined out in the upper and lower. I can't find these on Gunbroker now, and I can't remember the manufacturer's name. Seems like they were in Louisiana. Does anyone on the forum know about these, and can you provide any info? I have a plan for a really featherweight build, but I have not been able to find these guys again. Any help is appreciated!

There is nothing worse than sexual abuse of a child, except perhaps, sexual abuse of a mentally challenged child. I am disturbed by this beyond words. These young men need to be quarantined, have a trial in a state court in Twin Falls where this crime seems to have occurred, and if found guilty by the local authorities or a jury, placed in the deepest, darkest hole Idaho law provides for juvenile convicts. I think this should be fully investigated by Idaho law enforcement, and if it is found that one of the youths father (as I have read) encouraged this he needs a taste of the penal system as well. Last, I believe that this is just the beginning if we allow the left to hijack American values. I will hold my nose on election day and vote for Mr. Trump not only in approval for his position on immigration, but also in approval for his honesty about radical Islamic terrorism. Mr. Trump is not perfect but he is the best alternative I see that can win the Presidential election. The jihad is on, brothers. We either drink the left's koolaid and put our heads in a hole in the ground or we support those that call this jihad against us what it is, and we also need to prepare to personally defend our American values to the extent necessary to prevail. I am being brutally honest and do not intend to offend. I will stand with my family and America against this leftist plague on my values. I hope I can convince many others to join me, but if not I will still oppose this impending tyranny.

I am running the UBR on my Seekins SP10. Very solid, a little heavy maybe, but it makes the rifle with 16" barrel balance just right. It works just fine with the carbine-length buffer set up, which is what the rifle came with from Seekins. If you want to use a one-piece mount for your scope, ADM all the way. I am running three of these and they are bulletproof. Easier on your rail than Larue, and cheaper to boot. If rings are your style take a look at the Seekins rings on their website, they are well made and very solid. That same SP10 wears a honking big Swarovski Z6i 2.5-15x56 in Seekins AR high rings... solid, very solid. Height is just right.

Ok, I broke down and ordered a 10 round and a twenty round, both in smoke translucent. So hopefully they will be good to go in my rifles.

Anybody have anything bad to say about the L7AWM mags? They are pricey, so I have just been looking so far. I just ordered 5 of the L5AWM-20FDE for the PWS MK114, figured I would wring them out before ordering L7 variety for the 308 ARs I have since they are abut 3x more $. I like the idea of metal top ends on the Lancers though. Prolly get some L7s if the L5s work out... the Seekins SP10 has a pretty tight mag well, the PMag M118s I got don't like to drop out unaided. I was hoping the L7s might remedy that.
