  1. Hahaha. I haven't weighed it, but wouldn't be surprised if my AR10 isn't approaching that weight. As I was building it I quickly realized that it would only go from the safe, to the trunk, to the range, and back again.
  2. Nice!! I should stop by my local tractor supply too, maybe...
  3. Do any of you guys belong or subscribe to Flaviar? I'm not sure if they are accepting new subscriptions any more. I got in a few years ago, they send me 5 vials (~1.5-2oz) every month of premium spirits for tasting. They are mainly a Whiskey club, but deal in all premium spirits. I've definitely found some of my current favorites from them, including Diplomatico Gran Reserva. If any of you like Rum, I'd suggest checking that one out too. Grab your credit card, and prepare to go down the rabbit hole.. https://flaviar.com
  4. Breckenridge is a good one too. I have not been able to find it in any store, I ordered this bottle on line, but Featherbone is top shelf too, IMHO.
  5. ? Heyzeus Christos!!! I thought that I had an ammo collection problem!! ??
  6. An "aquired" taste for sure. I like it, but I have to be in the mood for it.
  7. I want to say they were cheaper than that at the Middletown NY show, but I don't recall exactly. About a 1/2 hr from Matamoras PA. They're having another one in February IIRC.
  8. True that! BJs wholesale club had (probably chinese, I didn't check) .50 with a .30 can inside of it for ~$15 / set. I picked up a couple of those, nothing wrong with them...
  9. I usually just grab them as needed at the gun show.
  10. Makers Mark JW Black Label Jefferson Reserve Basil Hayden's Blantons is probably my current favorite, but I'm always on the look out. ?
  11. I had 5 or 6 sub MOA groups while testing today. 1 at .598", the best at .593". I think I am done testing. Federal Premium 168 gr. HPBT Sierra Matchking. Time to buy a case of them I suppose. The Remington Premier match were second best, but not as consistent for me.
  12. Sorry for my lack of clarity. My friends trigger wasn't 2 stage, just the proverbial hair trigger.
  13. Agreed, I wasn't knocking the quality or performance, just my comfort with it. The 1.2# second stage did not provide me with a difinitive "wall" as some of you are describing. Granted, I do usually take more than one rifle to the range, and the other triggers at that time were much heavier. ...I might try the LaRue in one of my AR 15s. I still have one with a basic "lower parts kit" trigger installed. Definitely room for improvement there.
  14. I just did a search, pretty sure it was the B-G2S-E. ... And it did scare/ surprise the hell out of me a couple of times before I took it out of the rifle. I have shot a similar weight, maybe even lighter, single stage on a friends precision bolt action rifle, and thought highly if it, but there was no perceptible slack or creep. As soon as you made contact with the trigger it released. Looks like they are on sale too. IIRC I paid $179 or $189 on sale... https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/triggers-parts/triggers/ar-15-enhanced-triggers-prod67223.aspx
  15. I forgot the Geissele model, SSA sounds about right, I think there was another letter at the end. From memory it was a 2 stage with a 1lb break. A little to surprising for my comfort.
  16. Can anyone tell me how these compare to something like an AR Gold trigger? I'm fond of the ARG in my .308, the HyperTouch 3G is ok, but I think the Elftman is my favorite so far. The later 2 both in my AR9s.. So far I've found that I like the drop in style trigger's performances to the traditional 2 piece assemblies for whatever reason. The BCM trigger is good, but not designed for competitive shooting, and the Gisselle that I bought was good, but my 1st (and only) 2 stage, and the pull was a little too light for my comfort.
  17. I have been using TS for about 6 minths or so now. Very nice outfit. I got the prime membership, between shipping and discounts I think I've easily saved the $90 so far. It was great when I wanted to test a bunch of different Match Grade ammo for my build, and restock for a bunch of calibers that I was running low on.
  18. Spent some time at the range today. The gun seems to like the Sierra Match King 168 grain BTHP bullets the best. I still can't decide on the Fedral Premium, or the Remington Premium. Federals gave me the best 5 shot groups today, but when I average the 4 and 3 round groups, the Remington outperforms them. I put together a few nice groups today, but I think this one is the best. .78" at 100yds.
  19. Another viable option to remain compliant is a modified bolt catch, and B.A.D. lever with a removeable magazine. In that configuration, it is no longer considered an autoloader and all other restrictions go away. I am pretty happy with mine set up that way. Welcome from the Hudson Valley.
  20. Thanks guys. It's reassuring to finally see all of the effort (not to mention $$$ spent) coming to fruition.
  21. Hi all, I know I have not checked in here very frequently, I apologize. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you who offered suggestions and guidance on my build. I was doing some ammo testing at the range today, I had a bunch of sub 1" groups, and I think I probably put together my personal best 100 yd group ever. Subtracting the diameter of the bullet, I am figuring 5 rounds fell into .8", 4 of those falling into .42", and it was a bit windy today. I intend (of course) to go back and try to duplicate results, but I'm very happy with the outcome. Remington 168Gr Match King BTHP. Single sandbag rest.
  22. Interesting consideration.. I'm not really looking for "that" kind of faster follow up shot. The set up I have now has so much recoil that it completely knocks me off target. I think my Ruger bolt action .270 has much more shoulder kick, but seems to get back on target much easier.. May be that's just my perception as I have not shot them back to back..
  23. Thanks for the replies. I just ordered. I'm hoping this mod, along with the Diamond head USA muzzle break will help keep the reticle on target for easier follow up shots.
  24. Hello All, It's been a while since I checked in here. The rifle has been built out, and is putting out sub 1" groups at 100 yds with HPBT, but not match grade ammo, and me at the controls. I am pretty happy with that, and going to be doing some testing with a selection match grade ammo to see what gives me the best groups. I am starting to go about making some changes to improve shootability. I remembered a sponsor here that did heavy buffers/ springs, but now I just get a brownells link. Can anyone suggest a top quality supplier? If they have the "silent" springs too, that would be a plus. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  25. Anyone have any issues with AR Stoner components, or Midway USA as a vendor?
