With a mid length gas system, what length HG barely covers the gas block. I’m thinking 13 in but not sure I don’t need a lot of rail and want to keep it somewhat lite for mobility.

I’d like to here about your hunting AR10, caliber, weight furniture etc. I’m building this AR10 for pack hunting, in a round about way. You see a few years ago some friends and I packed into a remote area on horses and had a blast. I found my nice 7 mm mag that I’ve had for almost 30 yrs now, was a bit cumbersome and worried the whole time it would get damaged. Never know what can happen with horses. With all this said hence the AR10 build, just trying to keep it some what light, with enough punch to get the job done on Elk, deer, bear, Zombies lol if needed. Appriciate the reply’s

Sounds like I should stay with DI, to much of a chance for problems with the piston system. I appriciate the comments

I’m always thinking of reliability. I guess that comes from my time in the military. I can definitely understand the weight concern, the AR10 is usually a little heavier than the AR15.

Does anyone run a piston on their AR10? Thinking about doing this, just looking for pros and cons

wasnt wearing glasses when I first picked them up but sure looks like 308 or 7.62x51. I picked them up at a local match got about 50-55 pcs. I should say I don’t know how to read military head stamp

I have some brass I believe is 308 but can’t tell from the head stamp, how can I tell? only thing I can think of is measuring a 308 and the brass in question, so is there’s a better way?

I was thinking the same thing and the price is right i thought the made the barrels in house, now I’m even more curious lol

I’m looking at there 16 in barrels, seems to have a better rep than Bear Creek and a decent price, anyone try them?

What makes the barrel swap so simple compared to the standard receivers? ive only seen pic of them never had a chance to hold one

I was just on Aero’s I’m confused do you need an enhanced receiver and a special barrel nut to use the HG?

I’m using Aero Precision upper and lower in my build, looking for free floating 15” HG that won’t break the bank. Thinking about carbon fiber as well with weight in mind but think that will be to much $. I have to many hobbies my wife says, so trying to keep the cost down where I can

I know this is a newby question but is the HG interchangeable between AR10 and AR15?

Reporting in from Arizona. New to the AR10 but not to the AR15/ M16. I was an Armorer a few years back in the Army, with that said find the heavier bullet in a familiar platform more appealing.
