  1. Sure hope so.. I’m having my spare USP45 cerakoted with it to match.
  2. Currently taking this one apart for cerakote work. She will be all FDE with black accents.
  3. I dig it.. The cheek weld is extreme but could be the right height.
  4. Give this man a raise. You are spot on in that assessment. The Colt/LMT/Geissele/US Optics package it traded the Socom/EBR for.
  5. Never fired it either 😎
  6. I just started a thread on this beast. This will be my beauty. This project, so far, is only a “M1Army” refinished Tiger Striped birch stock, TRW bolt, Winchester Op Rod and a Criterion 18” barrel at this point. I had a LRB M25 rear lugged receiver but I sold it to fix my racecar 🥹 Traded this one for a very well built 10.5” AR15. It even had a LaRue LT608!
  7. I know this is an old thread but that is pretty damn cool.
  8. Just found the service rifles section and started a thread for the M1A.
  9. Springfield M1A Standard 22” Navy Seal Grey Sage M14ALCS chassis Nightforce SHV M14.CA CASM scope mount SEI USCG “Good Iron” muzzle brake H20man trigger shoe UTG bipod (for now)
  10. *Bonus content* Switched the flash hider out for a SEI USCG muzzle brake.
  11. I’m also open to suggestions for a better scope mount. I do not have faith in this Aero Precision unit and I’m leaning towards a LaRue LT-111.
  12. Decided to tame some of the recoil by switching the buffer spring to a SpringCo orange and KAK LR308 heavy buffer. I do intend on switching to a muzzle brake/KeyMo mount for a suppressor. I have a DeadAir Nomad L and a Energetic Arms Vox S in NFA prison to play with eventually. The M5E1’s buffer weighed in at 3.8 oz.
  13. Yes sir, she sure did. These battle rifles don’t get the credit they deserve these days and I love mine.
  14. Had a good outing overall but didn’t spend the quality time with it that I had hoped. There were no feed issues this round and the “heavy buffers” spring seemed to slow the action only marginally. Did have one instance of it not locking back on the last round so I’ll check the length compared to the Aero spring. My wife has a good time and worked her red dot in nicely, so, anything at 25 yards has no chance. The star of the outing was my M1A and it was punching one large hole at 100 yards using cheap, 150 gr ammo. For some reason I didn’t take pictures of it but it’s a gem. I’ll upload target pictures later on or tomorrow.
  15. The Blackfeather RS is an excellent chassis to build on and I will do so eventually with this pile of parts.
  16. That is a M1A Standard parked in a Sage Int’l M14ALSC chassis (semi M39 EMR clone) with a Nightforce SHV 4-14x56 scope. I’m using a M14.ca CASM scope mount and it also has their “trigger shoe”.
  17. Lubed the rifle up nicely and I’m headed back to the range tomorrow. Decided to try the “heavy buffers” spring I had laying around from my PA10 build but I’m bringing the factory spring to compare. I haven’t made any other changes to the rifle aside from that. My wife had decided to tag along and I’m towing additional weaponry (not pictured) along for the trip. This should be fun…right?
  18. Took her out today to get acquainted. It was humid, very cloudy, very windy and with ambient temps in the upper 60’s. We started to get the new scope dialed in and got to work at 25 yards. Had a few failure to feed issues and that’s likely attributable to the fact the gun was DRY! I have been so busy with my racecar, and work, that I didn’t even think to lube this baby properly. The range master had some Rem Oil and that at least kept the fun going. We pushed to 100 yards after about 6 rounds and kept working on the scope. I’m not a big fan of the “HexMag” but only because it doesn’t fall free when ejected. They also feel cheap compared to the PMAG. This is just my opinion. Today, I was shooting some ZQ1 146 gr and then Sig Sauer 168 gr once the scope was a bit more dialed in. I haven’t measured it yet but this was the final, 3 shot group at 100 yards. Not bad for a dry rifle, on a windy day and shooting off a bag. The previous group was comparable to this and I decided it was time to stop. Tonight, I am going to properly lube the rifle with Lubriplate FMO-AW oil and SFL-0 grease. I may go back to the range tomorrow and see how the gun reacts to it. ✌🏻 I’m going to shoot the gun a bit more in its current form before I change anything. Here are initial thoughts of the M5E1: 1. It shoots decent and doesn’t feel grossly overgassed like the PA10 I previously had. 2. Recoil was manageable but I feel it may benefit some tuning. 3. Shells ejected about 4 o’clock and about waist high. 4. There were no extraction issues. 5. The USGI type trigger is gritty and feels like you’d expect.
  19. Factory gun with 5 rounds through it. Got it from a friend and he claimed it cycled properly. Initial inspection showed no wear marks and the bolt locks back in the appropriate position. That’s a good first sign. Came with 100 rounds of cheap ammo and I’ll report back after we get better acquainted. Came with two magazines. The Magpul mag drops free when ejected but the Hexmag version has to be pulled from the mag well. Centurion CMR 15” MLOK rail Magpul SL stock Riton X3 Conquer 6-24x50 with an illuminated Mildot reticle
  20. Yes, I will shoot it first.
  21. I’ll have this home later today. Let the games begin. I’m going to just assume it will have the wrong buffer and possibly too small of a gas port.
  22. Wound up selling this rifle last year to make some ends meet but I’ve picked up another PSA PA10 lower in a trade 😆 Guess I’ll just pick up where I left off when I get my hands on an upper.
  23. Some people just can’t handle the truth.
  24. Ah, ARFCOM. “Where the weak are killed and eaten.” Which is literally the forum motto over at www.yellowbullet.com but it applies nicely at www.AR15.com
  25. Ah. Former coworker had “trigger finger” and at times he couldn’t straighten it at all. Seemed like a real pain in the ass. Oh well. That guy was a dick anyway.
