  2. #102 Armalite is a member of 308AR.com <thumbsup>
  3. Thanks for joining GriffonSec.
  4. you know what would be cool..a 12 gauge FS2000
  5. Hey guys just as a reminder and not directed towards anyone but I like to operate my sites on facts and proof and not here say and this thread is a great example with the Dremel but can be applied to other topics: It's just too easy for someone to service their own weapon and then turn around and point fingers at a manufacturer, gunsmith, friend, previous owner etc. We just have no way to verify these sorts of things without both sides on board. This public service announcement brought to you by a sick of shoveling snow admin.
  6. nah, Im not taking this back apart. I would just scuff it again
  7. That also may be a sign that DPMS will be offering that option on their weapons.
  8. The interior of the VTAC was very abrasive and I accidentally scraped the teflon at the muzzle of my DPMS SASS barrel. Anybody have a suggestion for repairing it. Just need it to last long enough for the first time to the range for some pictures.
  9. BTW theres two versions. One for "Old DPMS" and one for "New DPMS" receivers
  10. Found these listed in new products at Brownells Check them out here Anyone seen these in person or seen a picture of one installed?
  11. Rainier Arms is carrying Noveske hardware in this caliber
  12. I contacted Armalite about competition grade barrels and here is the response I got. <thumbsup> Im pretty sure this will go nicely in a build I have planned for late spring <thumbsup>
  13. At least for those who assemble their own uppers there is absolutely no reason to purchase a DPMS stripped upper. Lot's of options in 2011. This does however stink for folks who buy a complete rifle. (Insert a plus 1 Armalite here)
  14. I would be surprised if guys retooled just to accommodate DPMS. Too many other guys making uppers now. Of course a clever manufacturer could make a quad rail with two different heights and please everyone. I also suppose FFHG like a VTAC could have two accessory rail heights
  15. 4 months isnt bad. i canceled a DPMS barrel after one year of waiting
  16. Correct, if you run a top rail on the VTAC they wont align
  17. Im somewhat interested in these as well.
  18. It's funny Im doing my second one of these and just had an issue which Ill get to later. Curiously Matt you mentioned a few times that the receiver nut was hard to turn. I think that was most likely due to the loctite from the previous FFHG. On my current VTAC as well as the one prior the nut spins very easy. My barrel nut aligns with the gas tube hole around 3pm. I will be using the 271 Loctite per the instructions. Loctite was my "issue". I couldnt find my 271 but i had a sample of Loctite "Red" Gel. After 24 hours it didnt cure the slightest. What a pain cleaning that crap off. BTW I use a piece of drill rod the exact size of the gas tube hole in the receiver. I plan on making a stepped unit for times when the hole in the nut is larger than the receiver hole.
  19. Welcome, thanks for joining <thumbsup>
  20. Yes
  21. Im looking at Armalite barrels and BCG's now. Seems to be good options with that path between Armalite and Noveske
  22. Accuracy Systems. Schneider owes me a list of folks who use his blanks.
