I use CCI primers , almost exclusively any more , I do have some old WW & some new SR.Rem. BR primers , but all I buy any more is CCI .

41 gr. of 4064 is the low end of the loading data. I have  Chrono stats from 168 gr. SMK with IMR 4064 '

 20 " bbl.- 42.5 IMR 4064 -avg. vel. - 2606 - ES -19 , SD -7

 16"  bbl.- 42.5 IMR 4064 - avg. vel. -2476 - ES - 46,  SD -15

There's a thread on 4064 in the reloading section .

FGMM 175SMK load

imr 4064 - 41.75gr

Fed 210M primer

FGMM 168SMK load

imr 4064 - 42.75gr

Fed 210M

COAL - 2.805" to 2.815" I just measured 6 cartridges from a new box.

Holy Crap, then my 175 load aint too far off.  I wonder if that primer makes that much of a difference.

Maybe this will help explain a couple things.

Cant see the first image very well, can you make it bigger.  2nd one explains it pretty well.  Do you think just the hotness of the primer could make that difference in failure to lock back.  Seems like it would.  I did notice the factory ammo was for sure snappier than my loads

I'm going to put together another load and try again.  From some other readings I've concluded my load is on the lighter side.  I'm gonna juice it up a bit and see what happens.  I may even give Mega Arms a call.  When my brass comes out of that chamber it's looking a bit rough.  I wish I had a bore scope.  Chamber seems on the rough side.

Hodgden shows 41.5 gns @ 2500 fps as the starting load and 45.6 compressed @ 2728 fps as the high end for 175 gn. bullets.  If you haven't seen any signs of pressure, which you shouldn't at 41.7, you may want to go up on the powder charge.  Do you have a different powder you could try to eliminate the powder question? Any 4895?

No 4895 but could get some I'm sure

I have some RE-15

I really think the fact that it's a new build..Stiff like and the lighter loads is all contributing to this.

That powder will work great.  If you can pull some Hornady 150gr FMJBT projos, load them with 44gr of RL15, run those CCI 200s, and that'll be a great combo to break that rifle in.  It'll cycle the action.  My current favorite light load and range load.  <thumbsup>

Of the rifle?  Or chamber....LOL

For the borescope - he has a fetish about my borescope...  <lmao>

The Hornady reloading manual doesn't list RL15 for the 125s, but it does start using RL15 for the 130s.  You have to experiment with the load.

The the 130gr SP and RL15, this is what they have:

2500.....2600.....2700.....2800.....2900.....3000

42.0......43.6......45.3......46.9......48.5......50.1

Hit something in between, and try some out.  Start low.

 16" bbl.   175gr. , Nosler Match, 42 gr. -IMR 4064 , 2466 Avg. Vel. , ES -26, SD - 11

 20" bbl.    175 gr. , Nosler Match, 42 gr. IMR 4064  , 2573 Avg. Vel. ,  ES -17 , SD - 7

I seem to have no data for more then 42 gr. of IMR 4064 with the 175's , You could go higher or lower depending on how you barrel/chamber likes the loads . Here's the loading data for IMR 4064 from the manufacturer. for a 175 gr. bullet .   41.5 gr. to 45.6 gr.

New builds may need a higher round count to work properly sometimes. Lot of Lubricant also . <thumbsup>

Its funny, when it did that fail to lock back one time with the factory ammo..I took it apart lubed the bolt and fired a bunch more without issue.
