cmeptb
Hi everyone. Looking for a Matrix (Armalite A Series) compatible bolt stop and magazine catch. Anyone have an online source? Armalite and DSG Arms websites are sold out, and couldn't find anything on ebay or gunbroker.
98Z5V
The Matrix runs a DPMS LR-308 bolt catch. I used an AR15 mag catch in mine.

I used what looks like a DPMS bolt catch and the magazine doesn't drop free anymore. (Before I installed the bolt catch/stop, it dropped free). Here are 2 pics. Thoughts? I will be trying to use a Sig 716 bolt catch in a matrix I just purchased, CDNN has them on sale cheap. It will be after the fourth before I get the chance. survivalshop
Maybe your Mag Catch needs adjusting . If anything , the Bolt Stop should have pressure on it from the Mag spring & Follower . Maybe the mag is being interfered with , with the Bolt Stop . Make sure the Back of the Mag is not rubbing against the Bolt Stop itself & not just that tab on the Stop . Also , there is Factory DPMS Components & Components that are made like them , doesn't mean they are correctly made toDPMS's spec's . & fitment can be an issue . A copy is not an original, and the brand hasn't been identified positively. On 6/13/2018 at 9:44 PM, cmeptb said: I used what looks like a DPMS bolt catch and the magazine doesn't drop free anymore. Go back to that, and see what happened, before and after. I can tell you right now that you have that button screwed down too tight on the mag catch. Know how I can tell? The base of that mag catch shouldn't be sticking into the magwell of your lower receiver like that. At a maximum, it should be flush with it, but not protrude INTO the magwell. If it's INTO the magwell, you tightened the button onto it too much. This isn't an AR15, where the button gets screwed onto the mag catch threaded shaft flush... The receiver is wider, and you can't do that on these Big ARs... Fix that first, then test it again and report back with the issues... cmeptb
Thanks for the comments. I will play around with the magazine catch. I thought Matrix lowers were based on the Armalite A-series? Aren't DPMS parts proprietary and different from the Armalite A series?
survivalshop
I think the Armalite "A" series is based on the DPMS /SR25 , to be able to use DPMS/SR25 type Mags ,( I think its been said the AR10 "A" , Bolt Stop has a little higher ramp ). If anything you have it backwards , the standard 308AR is now DPMS/SR25 based .Armalite has the Proprietary components ,different Barrel Nut threads with corresponding Upper Receiver Threads , Different BCG & Buffer System . I say this only because there are so many more DPMS/SR 25 based Rifles out there then AR 10 based Rifles , Armalite is the little guy on the block & different . No offense to all the die hard AR 10 owners .?

None taken, we enjoy being the little guy or rather the elite system 6 hours ago, cmeptb said: I thought Matrix lowers were based on the Armalite A-series? There are different Matrix versions just like Armalite versions. My first Matrix has the Armalite thread pattern, second is DPMS. They look like Armalite pattern with the angled cut on the receivers but do not mate up. With no real standard for large frame AR's it can be a crap shoot for some parts but most interchange, different doesn't always mean it won't work.
