That does look a little too close. I would think you will see marks from contact on disassembly. 

Brass looks pretty good

That brass is flawless.  Cut the gas block, or buy a different one.  If it was mine, I'd just remove the handguard and clearance the gas block with a Dremel sanding drum - right there on the barrel.  Wouldn't even take the gas block off...
