matthewj.hess Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 I have recently purchased the ORC and have been wanting to add a single point sling adapter. Does any one know of one that will fit?
98Z5V Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Looking for one that attaches to the receiver extension, right at the back of the receiver? For that location, anything that fits an AR-15 will fit the ORC.
matthewj.hess Posted September 24, 2011 Author Report Posted September 24, 2011 Thanks for the reply and I will look for one soon. I am surprised that the buffer tube is the same OD. I thought it would be larger. Is there one manufacture you recommend?
Robocop1051 Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 I bought the Magpul MS2 when it first came out. It's a decent sling. I like the ability to swap from a 1 point to a 2 point.
edgecrusher Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 brownells has a bunch in their catalog, i think i am going to buy my fiance one of the troy ind. for her christmas gift. (stag 3L) shh, she don't know yet. good luck
98Z5V Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Is there one manufacture you recommend?Several, actually, that I could recommend. It depends on how you'll attach to it as to what version you'd need (and what your sling has on the end of it).For a sling using a hook, I'd recommend one of these:MagPul ASAP:http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG500/53I Kick Hippes SLAP (like the ASAP, but no moving parts - all one piece):http://www.ikickhippies.com/GG&G attachment - they make a couple different versions, but all attach from the side and not the bottom. Difficult to transition from side to side, shoulder to shoulder, though. Both those two above will let you transition from one shoulder to the other without any difficulty. If that's not something you'll be doing, then the GG&G parts work great. Here's one of them:Everything from GG&G:http://www.gggaz.com/sling-attachments-en/ar15-m16-sling-mounts.htmlAnother recommendation would be if you have a sling with QD sockets on it - one of the better endplates for QD socket use is the Daniel Defense piece:https://danieldefense.com/mounts-1/sling/ez-carbine-qd-swivel-attachment-point.htmlHappy hunting (and decision-making)... ;DAlso, I highly, highly recommend this sling - it's the BDS Tactical Enhanced Dual Sling. Use it as a single-point, use it as a dual-point - it's far better than the MS2 (too thin, IMHO). You can search around for the "standard" version of that one, on their site - "Enhanced" is padded, standard is not. $5 difference.http://www.bdstacticalgear.com/pd-bds-enhanced-dual-sling.cfm
Robocop1051 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Crap! I read the OP when I first woke up and I missed the part about "adapter"...I use a Troy Sling adapter. It was super easy to install over the existing castle nut. Just slide the collapsible stock off, slide the adapter on, slide the stock back on. Done!

It was super easy to install over the existing castle nut. Just slide the collapsible stock off, slide the adapter on, slide the stock back on. Done! That's one hell of a great benefit, right there - I didn't know about that one, and that you don't have to "take anything apart," really, to install it. That's damn awesome. <thumbsup>
edgecrusher Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 That's the one I was looking at <thumbsup>
Robocop1051 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Added bonus is that it can be quick detach mounted from either side, and it only cost about $45.Tighten it up real good and it doesn't move at all. Very sturdy so far.
matthewj.hess Posted September 27, 2011 Author Report Posted September 27, 2011 Thank you all for the replies and the great information. I have ordered the Troy adapter and the BDS Enhanced Sling. I will upload pics when I get it installed. I just finished adding the Quad rail and optics also.
