MaDuce
1 overriding reason why not to. AR-10 is banned in California. Ever consider a California model? Perhaps the exact same thing as your regular AR-10 except the receiver marked "CAR-10" (California AR-10) and a bullet button installed? AR-10 is beyond what I can afford, but I'd think there are allot of folks in this state who'd be giving you business if they could.

MaDuce
Really? I didn't know that. Who makes them? I just went to Armalite's website and looked at some of the uppers. Not as expensive as I thought. Still beyond what I can afford though. :(
98Z5V
Mega and Noveske, if I recall correctly. I can't find my Cali lower banned list to confirm, though... There are more...Edit - Yeah, the Mega and Noveske are good.

mrraley
Aero is another one with CA legal. You can find them here... http://www.762sass.com/product.php?p=145&cid=2&session=27ce628c4c858cc978607adde4b6a65f
mrraley
What about Eagle?Since Eagle Arms is a division of ArmaLite, they are on the ban list also. Unfortunately it is stamped on the lower receiver as such also.
ArmaLite
Noveske and Aero are the ones.

98Z5V
Here's the Cal-Legal flowchart - this thing has been proofed so many times. This is the information you need to go by if you're a Cali resident.http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf
