The internal depth is 7”.

Then a 2.5 buffer is correct.   It just needs to be heavier.   What are the specs on the spring,  relaxed length and number of coils?

Length is 11.25” relaxed, 24 coils.

So a KAK heavy .308 buffer or a heavy buffers.com CAR-10 buffer. Your spring is an ar 15 spring. Have to get a springco orange spring
