NightStalker
Time to upgrade and looking for suggestions on new calipers. I’m looking at digital as well as dial. For price I’d like to keep it under $50 Any suggestions will be helpful
Cunuckgaucho
I can't speak to price but a couple things to consider. Dials are nice as batteries are never an issue. I've been very happy with my Mitutoyo caliper that are +15 years old. There has been a flood of off shore digitals so that can be hit and miss. My and a friend of mine expericence with some of these is that the accuraccy seems decent enough if +/1 a thou is good enough. The only thing to watch out for is they seem to chew through batteries, even when not in use. So if going this route, take the battery out if not being used for any length of time( my rule is if next time is more than 3 days battery comes out) and of course keep a spare battery. A cheap way to check them is to use a 1-2-3 block , a keep one specifically to check the calipers every so often to confirm the digital is tracking correctly.
