GeorgeG Posted yesterday at 03:04 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 03:04 AM During the deepest, darkest days of The Great Pandemic I assembled a .308AR using the information on this site. It has operated flawlessly! Many thanks for all the good information. Now would like build another upper, I have on hand a DPMS style upper and bcg, I can get a lightly very used Armalite 16" barrel for a reasonable price. Will this work? What is needed besides AR10 bolt and firing pin if it will work. Are the bolts interchangeable in bcgs? Are barrel extensions interchangeable between the platforms? Bought the receiver ext. spring and buffer directly from Armalite when assembling .308AR, now don't see the option to buy parts on their site. Any information you can share is greatly appreciated. Is this just a dumb idea that would not be worth the effort? Thank you, George
98Z5V Posted yesterday at 04:01 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:01 AM George, somewhere here, I was involved in a deep dive we did on those types of the BCGs, both DPMS and Armalite. I have both, and did the measurements and comparison pics. There are very slight differences in the BCG bodies. The OAL is the same. I think you'd need the Armalite BCG body, the actual carrier, as well as the bolt. SAC, Strategic Armory Corps, Inc, owns Armalite now. I'll find their website with contact info. I'll try to find that thread with the details. I know for a fact that you can run all Armalite AR10 guts in a DPMS based receiver set, and built one to test as proof of concept. It runs flawlessly. Armalite barrel, BCG and recoil system running inside the Aero Precision M5 receiver set. https://sacfirearms.com/ 1395 N Harvey Mitchell Pkwy Bryan, Texas 77803 Email: salesorders@sacfirearms.com Phone: 979-326-1300 Sales Visits By Appointment Only

Armed Eye Doc Posted yesterday at 04:16 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:16 AM It is never a dumb idea to build another gun. Armalite parts are sold here now. https://everygunpart.com/manufacturer/armalite They are not listing the AR10 receiver extension kit at the moment. They do have a complete BCG available as well as the buffer spring.
