Recoil reduction for LAR-8

here's a couple pics. I heard that changing muzzle devices can sometimes change POI or screw with accuracy. NOT the case here.

After I put the AAC Brakeout on the Rem 700, it had a pretty significant POI shift - about 4" left and 4" up.  Re-zero'd it, and it's still dead-nuts accurate again.  I saved that target somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

Interesting thread.

My 20" RRA to me has more recoil than the 16" RRA, both LAR-8s.

I like the hybrid muzzle brake.My RRA 20" has a lot less recoil then my LMT 308mws 16". The RRA felt more like a AR15. No sore shoulder compared to my LMT

I tried the JP Cooley style muzzle brake on my CMMG.  It made the recoil just go away but it doesn't reduce flash at all.  I ended up getting a grind to fit Limbsaver pad and shaping it to fit the A-2 buttstock.  You need a couple of spacers under the lower end and you may have to order a longer screw to attach it to the buffer tube but it ended up looking good and does a great job of reducing what little recoil a 308 has.  Since I will do some night time hog hunting with my 308 I wanted flash suppression so I put the stainless bird cage flash hider from Armalite on the rifle.

ordered the magpul "thicker" butt pad figured for 18$ it was a good start, after a box of shells my shoulder dont feel near as bad as last time. and even better yet i got her dialed in where i want her now.
