buffer tube tightness

so how tight do i tighten the buffer tube down

The tube itself can only go just off buffer retaining pin,had the wife hold lower and I cranked castle nut tight.If you want you can spoil the threads with tapping a center punch,spring loaded center punch,large nail.it's aluminum so doesn't take much.Just my 2 mags.

If you are using a rifle length buffer tube, you can use a small strap wrench to get tight, but it isn't necessary since the fixed stocks lock the tube into place.

If you're using a carbine length tube, the castle nut should be used to tighten the tube down.

Rifle receiver extensions also have wrench flats on the end of them, for applying proper torque.  AR-15 armorer's combo tools have the notch in them that fits the wrench flats.
