brazosvet Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Will a BCM Gunfighter charging handle work with the AR10?
brazosvet Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 Got the BCM Gunfighter today, and when I installed it, I found that the rear take-down pin won't snap in. Everything else seems to fit OK. Length is the same as the OEM handle. I wonder what the difference is?
Rsquared Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Sooooooooooo. Are you striking out everything? As you're saying it? But seriously. Not sure how the charging handle would change the alignment of the takedown pin. Does the upper seem to fit properly against the lower?
brazosvet Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 Sorry, I don't understand why the strike-outs occured. Couldn't get it to go away, even when I started over. Upper and lower fit normally. When i forced the take-down pin in, I was unable to withdraw the charging handle. I had to tap both pins out to fix and remove the handle.
unforgiven Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 If the cursor hits and clicks the bottom row it will light and do this the one with the S the U will do this etc.
brazosvet Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the fix imschur, and for the advice unforgiven. When they put processers in firearms, I'm done. Edited March 21, 2013 by brazosvet
Rsquared Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 I was just screwing with you my man. No harm, no foul. Any way you could get some pics up showing the handle installed in the rifle? Just scratching my head on this.
brazosvet Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 OK problem fixed. I returned the handle to the store. The store offered to let their gunsmith to have a look at it, and he noticed that the handle was binding at the bottom of the handle, against the upper. He filed down on it a bit, and it worked perfectly. Just needed to widen out the "V"-shaped grove to allow for more clearance. Now were good to go.
brazosvet Posted March 23, 2013 Author Report Posted March 23, 2013 Yup, handle is really smooth and strong feeling. Makes me wonder why Armalite doesn't upgrade the handle at the factory.
Rsquared Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Don't have an answer for that my man. I've swapped a number of handles out for different types and they've all worked pretty good. Now, mostly I use PRI gas-busters. But I've swapped out other handles too. Lately, I'm on to the Rainer Raptor style of handles. Something about them that I've taken a liking to.
eagle10 Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Mine also was making contact, I took my Dremel and lightly took some of the surface area off and it worked great after that. It really is a nice piece.
