Robocop1051 Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 .30 cal M1 carbine lead in particular. Can this be used to reload? Specifically for the 300Blk. Quite often I run into nasty, old, corroded boxes of Vietnam era .30 carbine. I'm just wondering if it's worth pulling the lead for reloading. Would that round nosed stuff even work in a AR? I was just wondering, because .30 carbine proj's would be a cheap source for supersonic plinking ammo.
Dane Armory Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Rob, The roundnose lead will work...But,running lead in a gas operated gun may not be wise. If you have a bolt action then do it !
survivalshop Posted June 2, 2013 Report Posted June 2, 2013 Most , if not all ,30 M1 carbine ammo has been loaded with a copper jacketed bullet. Lead , might be commercial ammo . Not sure how it would feed , you need to try it & let us know how it works out . <thumbsup>
Robocop1051 Posted June 2, 2013 Author Report Posted June 2, 2013 I was being generic when I said "lead". I actually was talking about the round nose, jacketed ammo. I even have some tracers left over from the Vietnam era.
EasyEJL Posted June 2, 2013 Report Posted June 2, 2013 the only issue i'd see is that you'll have to play around a bit more on finding the sweet spot for them powder + potentially bullet depth wise. Other than that, it shouldn't make a bit of difference.
